On Christmas Day, the Las Vegas Raiders are on the road to face the Kansas City Chiefs. Vegas is currently in last place in the AFC West with a 5-8 record, while the Chiefs, who are the defending Super Bowl champions, sit in first place in that division with a record of 8-5. Here is some background on the Raiders and Chiefs before we look at the early betting odds, tips, and predictions for their Week 16 matchup.
Kansas City opened the 2023 NFL season with a solid 6-1 record. Things have not gone as well for the team since Week 8, when they dropped a 24-9 game to the Denver Broncos. Over the team’s past six outings, the Chiefs are 2-4. As of this writing, the team is coming off their first back-to-back losses of the 2023 season. Kansas City had not experienced consecutive defeats since week 2 and 3 of the 2021 NFL season.
Las Vegas is struggling as the 2023 NFL season heads toward its conclusion. The team has lost its past three games and is coming off a disappointing 3-0 setback to Minnesota in Week 14.

Las Vegas Raiders betting breakdown
Any good vibes from Antonio Pierce taking over as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders are gone. The team dropped its third straight game on Sunday and failed to score a single point in its 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The Raiders made it to the red zone just once during the contests, and that trip ended with a fumble.
Vegas quarterback, rookie Aidan O’Connell, went 21 for 32 for 171 yards and an interception in the loss. O’Connell did not get much protection from his offensive line in the setback, and he was sacked four times. There is a chance the Raiders could go back to Jimmy Garoppolo, who was the starting QB when the season began. Garoppolo hasn’t played since a 26-14 loss to the Lions in Week 8. Vegas is 2-3 behind O’Connell.
Vegas is second last in the AFC in point differential at -57. Only the Jets and Patriots have scored fewer points than the Raiders, and only the Patriots have a worse point differential. On a positive note, the Raiders defense has allowed 259 points, which is in the top half of the conference.
Kansas City Chiefs betting breakdown
The talk after the Kansas City Chiefs‘ loss was centered around the offside call that brought what appeared to be a game-winning touchdown back late in the fourth quarter. As spectacular as the play was, Kadarius Toney did line up offsides. The play was a microcosm of what has been ailing the Chiefs all year. The team’s receiving corps is not performing at its best, which it needs to do since the Chiefs did not have much of a running game with the club’s leading rusher, Isiah Pacheco, out of the line up with a shoulder injury.
With the loss on Sunday, Kansas City fell to third in the AFC standings, which means the team could be facing its first road playoff game in a long while. With that being said, the playoffs should not be what the Chiefs are focusing on right now. The team needs to focus on winning games and working together as a cohesive unit, something it has not done over the past few weeks.
