Mavericks Sale Could Be Massive for the Texas Sports Betting Push

People all over the state have been holding out hope for positive Texas sports betting news. While things have been delayed for quite some time and things didn’t arrive this year, plenty of pro team owners are doing their part to try and get things legalized. This includes Mark Cuban, who has been eyeing things for a while. Well, the latest news has people talking, as fans believe the Mavericks sale could be massive for the Texas sports betting push.

In case you missed it, it was announced last week that Cuban is selling the majority of his shares for the team to the family of former casino titan Sheldon Adelson. Adelson passed away in 2023, but his family is ready to try and keep his legacy going, which is why major headlines have been written about this sale. The feeling here, though, is that with the Adelson’s in control, plus Cuban continuing to get sports betting done, it could be a great partnership between everyone.

Cuban has voiced his desire for legal betting, plus a casino to make its way to the Dallas area. In a recent interview, Cuban said he’s eyeing a resort-type casino in Dallas, which will lead to more and more people making their way to the major Texas city for tourist reasons. Cuban himself knows that Dallas, and Texas as a whole, are far behind states like Florida and California in terms of vacation destinations.

However, getting sports betting legalized and bringing in a major casino to Dallas would 100 percent bring more people into town. Cuban knows how beneficial sports betting for Texas will be, which is why it seems like he’s ready to go all-in for the efforts. It’s not going to be easy and there have been plenty of negative updates in recent years, but it sure seems like good things could be coming sooner rather than later.

Jerry Jones continues to support Mark Cuban and Texas sports betting

What’s really going to help the efforts moving forward is that Jerry Jones continues to support Mark Cuban and Texas sports betting. The owner of the Dallas Cowboys is eyeing a Super Bowl for his team this season, but he also wants to see sports betting make its way to the Lone Star State as soon as possible. Jones has been open about his desire for legal wagers, as he’d love to see NFL betting recorded at AT&T Stadium.

The Cowboys are in the middle of an epic year, which included a big-time win over the Seattle Seahawks last Thursday night. In that victory, Dak Prescott looked brilliant, as he continues to make a case to be the NFL MVP. CeeDee Lamb is living up to the hype of being a No. 1 receiver, while wideout Brandin Cooks is looking sharp as well. People all over the world are betting on the Cowboys and Jones, along with Cuban, wants to see it happen in Texas someday soon too.

“There’s a huge amount of gaming going on in and around sports at this time. And, so, to have all the benefits or all the control over it, it needs to be recognized and parameters put on it and discipline put in it,” Jones said earlier this year. “Then, also, the benefits can go in Texas, could adhere to the right kind of people, or some property tax. Certainly help educate our great state’s children. All of those things can be enhanced by something that’s presently going on in a big, big, way.”

The rest of the season, Dallas is going to continue to make a lot of noise and fans are hoping that they can keep on boosting its Super Bowl betting odds with some clutch wins. This Sunday night’s matchup with the Eagles is easily going to be one of the best of the campaign. While people in Texas can’t bet on that game in a legal fashion this weekend, the hope is that the laws will change within the next couple of years.

Will Texas sports betting get over the line in 2025?

With the way things are being discussed right now, will Texas sports betting get over the line in 2025? It’s important to remember that the Texas legislature won’t be meeting in 2024, which means the earliest things can get changed in the state will be ’25. With things coming and going in 2023 without positive news, it means that countless people are ready to dive right in for 2025. It’s quite positive that a pre-written sports betting bill has already been filed. Now, we must wait to see how things develop.

At this time next year, everyone is hoping that the wheels will be in motion for sports betting in Texas to arrive. Cuban is ready to help lead the efforts and the sale of the Mavericks feels like it’s going to help out things the rest of the way. Cuban clearly has a trick up his sleeve and sports fans all over Texas can’t wait to see how everything turns out in this case.
