- Carson Beck (+850) is favored to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy
- Quarterbacks have captured seven of the last eight awards and 12 of the past 14
- The Heisman Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the most outstanding player in college football in a December ceremony
When making your Heisman Trophy picks, look for winning programs. Last year, Jayden Daniels become only the 15th Heisman winner to play on a team with three or more regular season losses. Additionally, 28 Heisman winners have suited up for clubs that went undefeated in the regular season and 29 played for schools with one regular season loss.

Beck favored over Ewers
Carson Beck (+850) is the chalk pick for one reason and one reason only – he’s Georgia’s starting quarterback. Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs are the betting favorite to win their third national championship in four years. Beck, who’s also a +375 favorite to go No. 1 in the 2025 NFL Draft, passed for nearly 4,000 yards with 24 touchdowns in his first season in Athens.
Quinn Ewers (+950) will captain Steve Sarkisian’s Texas offense for one more season before Arch Manning takes over. The Longhorns lost two star receivers, Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell, to the NFL. And much like Beck, Ewers is missing the dynamic athleticism of recent Heisman winners such as Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams.

Where’s Shedeur Sanders?
Shedeur Sanders (+2500) started as the betting favorite to be the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft before being supplanted by Beck. Despite his prodigious talent and dual-threat ability, the son of legendary cornerback and Colorado coach Deion Sanders is a long shot because his Buffaloes finished with a 4-8 overall record in 2023.
His teammate Travis Hunter (+5000) is facing the same uphill climb. Playing on both sides of the ball last year, Hunter piled up 721 receiving yards and five touchdowns on offense and a team-leading three interceptions on defense.
Potential longshots
Will Howard (+1600) joined the Buckeyes via the transfer portal from Kansas State. The fifth-year senior doesn’t have a spectacular resume, but Ryan Day has a long history of coaching explosive offenses and Ohio State is only behind Georgia with +375 odds to win the Natty.
Miller Moss (+3300) is taking over for Caleb Williams in USC. While that doesn’t sound like an enviable position, Lincoln Riley has coached four Heisman winners in the past seven years, with Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray being the others. Moss passed for six TDs against Louisville in last year’s Holiday Bowl.
So the king @Jordan_Reid already did a 2025 mock draft. He has Shedeur Sanders as a top 5 pick and a fit for the RAIDERS. Here’s why, Sanders’ comp, and why Carson Beck will be QB1 this time next year. LOADED This Is Football today. pic.twitter.com/tgcgVSzTzz

Best Bet
D.J. Uiagalelei (+2800) will be scoffed at by any Clemson fan, but the once highly-ranked recruit looked much improved at Oregon State in 2023. Mike Norvell has built a winning program and the Seminoles are loaded with weapons at wide receiver.
If Florida State can stay in the College Football Playoff mix after pulling in top transfer portal and recruiting classes, Uiagalelei could surprise as an unlikely Heisman Trophy winner.
