San Fran chokes again
After only suffering one division loss over the past two years, the 49ers are already 0-2 in the NFC West this season. Kyle Shanahan’s club blew a double-digit to the Cardinals just a few weeks after doing the same thing against the Rams. Brock Purdy tossed two interceptions and Jordan Mason coughed up a fumble in Sunday’s 24-23 defeat to Arizona.
On the bright side, Brandon Aiyuk finally showed up on the box score, registering eight receptions for 147 yards. With Christian McCaffrey still a few weeks away from returning, San Francisco is in danger of falling out of the playoff race with tough matchups on tap with the Seahawks, Chiefs, Cowboys and Buccaneers over the next month.

Seahawks lose again
Seattle’s dropped two-straight after opening the season with three consecutive victories. Geno Smith almost led his club to a comeback victory before Isaiah Simmons blocked a field goal attempt to secure a 29-20 Giants victory.
Mike McDonald’s defense allowed Big Blue to pile up over 420 total yards – 175 of which came on the ground. The Seahawks were unable to run the rock themselves. After scoring three touchdowns in his week 4 return, Kenneth Walker was held to just 19 rushing yards on five carries.

Seattle is a 3-point home underdog on Thursday night. They’ve lost their last five matchups against the 49ers but that was in the Pete Carrol era, of course. Mike McDonald got the better of Kyle Shanahan in their last meeting. McDonald’s Ravens defense picked off Brock Purdy four times in a 33-19 win on Christmas Day.
The over/under is set at 47.5 points. Both teams have top-ten offenses. New offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb has helped unleash the Seahawks aerial attack. DK Metcalf already has three 100+ yard performances in 2024, but he has fumbled in each of the last two games.
