- McLaren’s Lando Norris (+110) is the heavy favorite to win the United States Grand Prix
- Max Verstappen (+450) is winless in eight consecutive races after a second-place finish at the Singapore GP
- The 56-lap, 3.43-mile Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas hosts Round 19 of the F1 season on October 20, 2024
Lando Norris sits 52 points back of Max Verstappen in the drivers’ standings after picking up his third-career win in Singapore. With just six more grand prix left in the season, can the 24-year-old Brit catch the three-time defending world champion? Or will the nearly month-long hiatus before the next race spoil his momentum?

Norris favored over Verstappen
Lando Norris (+110) led all 62 laps of the Singapore Grand Prix, capitalizing on pole position for the first time in his career to finish over 20 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen. The Red Bull driver’s second-place result meant the McLaren driver only made up seven points in the drivers’ standings.
While Verstappen has gone winless in the past eight races, his 52-point cushion will likely be enough to capture his fourth championship. Even if Norris earns maximum points in the season’s final six events, Verstappen would hold on to first place if by finishing second in each.

Circuit of Americas
Formula 1 is taking an almost month-long hiatus before returning to the 56-lap, 3.43-mile Circuit of the Americas on Oct. 20. Max Verstappen (+450) has won three-straight United States Grand Prix events, however, a lot has changed since he picked up his 50th-career GP victory in Austin, Texas last October.
Lewis Hamilton (+1600) also has six-career wins at Circuit of the Americas, including the first-ever event held on the track in 2012. That victory marked his last-ever triumph in a McLaren before his switch to Mercedes in 2013. With only six more races until his move to Ferrari next year, could history repeat itself?
Other contenders
Oscar Piastri (+450) finished third in Singapore after picking up his second career win at Azerbaijan. His first victory of the year came at the Hungarian GP when McLaren forced Norris to swap the lead with his teammate. A move that now looms costly in the championship standings. On the bright side, McLaren now has a 41-point lead over Red Bull in the constructors’ standings.
Charles Leclerc (+650) is coming off a fifth place finish in Singapore. Outside of McLaren, the Ferrari frontman is the only driver to pick up a win in the past four races. George Russell (+1600) placed fourth on the Marina Bay Street Circuit, while Hamilton finished sixth. Mercedes had won three of four races before summer break. Since, the team has just one podium finish.

Best Longshot
With F1 coming off almost a month break, we want to avoid taking the favorite Lando Norris (+110) in the first race of the fall season. Instead, we’ll go with Mercedes longshot George Russell (+1600) to win the USA GP and continue what’s been an unpredictable season.
