Detroit and Green Bay will square off for the first time this season on Sunday. The Lions have won five-in-a-row, outscoring opponents by 38 points in two of their last three games. However, the Packers are hot on their tails in the NFC North after winning four-straight contests.

Jordan Love questionable to play
Jordan Love exited Green Bay’s 30-27 win over the Jaguars with a groin ailment. While Matt Lafleur said there was “high level of concern” after the game, Monday’s MRI confirmed that Love avoided a serious injury and has a chance to suit up in Week 9.
While Malik Willis filled in admirably on Sunday and has already won two starts in place of Love, the Packers will need their franchise quarterback to match points with Detroit’s explosive offense.

Lions lay licking on Titans
Just two weeks after embarrassing the Cowboys 47-9, the Lions destroyed Tennessee 52-14 to move to 6-1 on the season. Strangely, Jared Goff completed only 12 of 15 passes for 85 yards, but he tossed three TDs in the blowout victory.
As per usual, Detroit dominated on the ground. Sophomore back Jahmyr Gibbs finished with 127 yards, highlighted by 70-yard scamper for a TD in which he clocked in at over 22 mph. The Lions’ special teams also generated a ridiculous 262 yards on six total returns.
Green Bay vs Detroit
Detroit is a 3.5-point road favorite at Lambeau Field, however, that line might move in the Packers’ direction if oddsmakers feel confident Love will suit up. These two NFC North rivals split their season series last year, with Detroit coming away with a 34-20 road win in September and Green Bay evening the score with a 29-22 victory in late November.
The over/under for Sunday’s late-afternoon contest is set at 48 points. Ben Johnson presides over the NFL’s highest-scoring offense (33.4 PPG), but the Packers aren’t far behind (27 PPG), especially considering all of Love’s missed time.

Key matchups
Josh Jacobs put the Packers on his shoulders in the second-half of Sunday’s win, finishing with 127 rushing yards and two scores. But, Detroit owns the NFL’s No. 5 defense against the run, limiting opponents to 101.9 yards per game. The Lions are much more susceptible to the pass, allowing the sixth-most passing yards per game (247.6). Dan Campbell’s club is also without star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson for the remainder of the season.
Best Bet
This one could be decided by turnovers. Green Bay’s defense is No. 1 in the NFL with 19 defensive takeaways and Detroit is second with 15.
Assuming Love plays, we like the Packers to cover (+3.5) at home with the OVER 48 points, but keep an eye on the health status of the 25-year-old QB.
