Tom Kim looks to join Jim Furyk as the second three-time winner of the Shriner’s Children’s Open. While Furyk won the event in 1995, 1998, and 1999, Kim is in the running to win the PGA Tour event in three straight years. The 22-year-old Kim won the Shriner’s Children’s Open in 2022 with a score of 260. He followed that victory with a 264 in 2023, beating out Adam Hadwin by one stroke. Unsurprisingly, Kim is the betting favorite to win the 2024 edition of the Shriner’s Children’s Open, which takes place this week at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. The prize pool for the event is $7 million, with $1.26 million going to the winner. Last year, Kim took home $1.512 million of an $8.4 million prize pool.
The 2024 Shriners Children’s Open is part of the PGA Tour FedExCup Fall tournament schedule, which consists of eight official PGA Tour events. The players are coming off the 2024 Black Desert Championship, which Matt McCarty won in his second start as a PGA Tour member. He finished at 23 under for the event, taking home $1.35 million for his efforts.
The Shriners Children’s Open has been played since 1983 when Fuzzy Zoeller won the event, beating out Rex Caldwell for $135,000 of the $750,000 prize pool.

Tom Kim betting breakdown
Tom Kim has three career PGA Tour wins, with two of them coming on this course. The 22-year-old from South Korea also won the 2022 Wyndham Championship. Kim has not had a great year in 2024; in the past four events he’s played, Kim has missed the cut twice (Rocket Mortgage Classic and The Open) while finishing in 15th at the Genesis Scottish Open and placing 50th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. At the end of the 2024 PGA Tour season, Kim said he was not going to play in any fall events; he is making an exception for the Shriners Children’s Open, recently saying that a “three-peat sounds nice.”
Perhaps a rested Kim can claim his first victory of 2024 in Las Vegas.
Davis Thompson betting breakdown
Twenty-five year old Davis Thompson earned his PGA Tour card for the 2022-23 tour. He came close to winning his first event in 2023 when he finished one stroke behind Jon Rahm at The American Express at the La Quinta Country Club in California. He broke through in July of this year, winning the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Thompson’s tournament score of 28-under-par broke the record for lowest 72-hole score in tournament history. Michael Kim held the previous record at 27-under. Kim set that mark in 2018.
Things have not gone well for Thompson since that win. He has placed 46th, 66th, 12th, 33rd, and 41st in events since then. Thompson last played at the BMW Championship in August.
This year is Thompson’s first go at The Shriners Children’s Open.
Taylor Pendrith betting breakdown
The 33-year-old Taylor Pendrith placed third at this tournament in 2023, finishing at 18-under. In 2022, he finished in 44th at 11-under par. In his first go at the Shriners Children’s Championship, which was in 2021, he placed 47th at 8-under. Pendrith, who hails from Canada, earned a spot on the PGA Tour in 2021-22. He picked up his first PGA win in May 2024 when he won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in McKinney, Texas, with a tournament score of 23-under. His prize winnings for that event were $1.71 million.
Pendrith has been playing fairly well as of late. In his last five events, he has placed fifth (twice), 22nd, 13th, and most recently, he finished in 14th place at the Tour Championship in September.
Best bets 2024 Shriners Children’s Open
Tom Kim is a strong betting favorite to pick up a three-peat at this year’s Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin, but he will have his work cut out for him against the field.
Taylor Pendrith is among the betting favorites, and he has improved each time he’s played this tournament.
The betting pick is Taylor Pendrith to win the Shriners Children’s Open.
