The top two teams in the SEC meet on Saturday in College Station when the LSU Tigers visit Key Field to face the Texas A&M Aggies. Texas A&M is the No. 14 team in the latest AP Poll. The Aggies sport a 6-1 overall record and are 4-0 in the SEC. Meanwhile, LSU is ranked at No. 8 with a 6-1 record overall and a 3-0 mark in the SEC. These teams have alternated wins and losses over their past seven meetings with the home team winning each of those contests. In 2023, LSU won in Baton Rouge, beating Texas A&M 42-30.
LSU opened the 2024 NCAA Football season with a 27-20 loss to USC. The team has gone unbeaten since then, most recently beating Arkansas 34-10 on October 19. The last time LSU won a game at Key Field was 2016.
Texas A&M also started the 2024 campaign with a loss. They dropped their season opener 23-13 to Notre Dame. The Aggies are coming off a 34-24 victory over Mississippi State.

LSU enters Saturday’s game against Texas A&M with wins in four of their past six road games, but the team has not done well on the road against the Aggies, having gone winless in College Station since 2016.
LSU’s offense looks like it has improved every game this season and junior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier could be in the running for SEC player of the year. Nussmeier is the No. 2 QB in passing yards this year with 2,222 yards No one has completed as many passes as he has at 183. However, his completion percentage on the year is 63.7 percent, which is near the middle of the conference. He also leads the SEC in passing touchdowns with 18. Nussmeier’s top targets are Kyren Lacy and Mason Taylor, who each have 36 receptions on the year. Meanwhile, the team’s leading rusher, Caden Durham, is coming off his second 100-yard game of the year. Nussmeier’s big test this week will be getting the ball out of his hands in a hurry because of the Aggies’ pass rush.
With Texas A&M having a good pass defense, the LSU offense might look at using its rushing weapons in this game. In addition to Durham, the team has Josh Williams, who has 55 touches this year, and Kaleb Jackson with 40.
Texas A&M betting breakdown
Texas A&M sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman is coming off an okay game last week. He went 15 for 25 for 217 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. His 60 percent completion rate in the team’s win over Mississippi State was his second-lowest mark of the year. The team prefers to use its running game over its passing on the offensive side of the ball. A positive for Texas A&M is that the LSU defense has struggled to stop the rushing game, allowing 116 yards on the ground per game. The Aggies average 218.6 yards per game on the ground. The team’s leading rusher is Le’Veon Moss with 674 yards on the ground, which puts him at No. 2 in the SEC. Amari Daniels is also a threat with 69 touches and 292 yards.
The Texas A&M defense could give the LSU passing game a test on Saturday, as the team has an effective pass rush, ranking near the top of the league in sacks this year. While the defense is great at pressuring the opposing quarterback, the Aggies could do better on pass defense, as the team gives up an average of 209 passing yards per game, which is eighth in the SEC.
