Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs started the campaign full of optimism that this could be the season they finally get their hands on the Stanley Cup again.
Four wins from their opening six matches got new head coach Craig Berube off to a solid start. But with just two wins in their last seven, Berube needs to get hold of the situation before things get out of hand.
A three-match losing streak was ended with a 6-4 win away to the Jets. The road-trip win was backed up with a 4-1 victory over the Kraken at the Scotiabank Arena. But those two wins were followed by back-to-back defeats on the road to the St. Louis Blues (4-2) and the Minnesota Wild (2-1).
On Tuesday, the Maple Leafs will be looking to prevent their second three-match losing skid of the season when they host the Bruins.
Their recent blip hasn’t affected their betting to win the Stanley Cup. In the latest futures betting, Toronto is the joint-fifth favorite to win the trophy at +1100. In the betting to win the Eastern Conference, the Maple Leafs are +550, and they are +300 to win the Atlantic Division.
Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins are just one point behind the Maples Leafs in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins have 13 points from 13 matches, and they come into this fixture on a winning streak of two.
Inconsistent is one word that can be used to describe Jim Montgomery’s team.
Before the two-match winning run, the Bruins suffered back-to-back defeats away to the Hurricanes (8-2) and at home to the Flyers (2-0). The defeats came after their recent 4-3 overtime win over the Maple Leafs, which followed a 5-2 home loss to the Stars.
Getting the puck into the back of the opponent’s net seems to be the biggest problem for Montgomery. His team has only scored 34 times this season. Only the Red Wings (29 goals from 11 matches) and the Canadiens (33 goals from 12) have scored less in the Atlantic Division.
Defensively, the Bruins aren’t great either. Only the Canadiens (50) have conceded more than Boston’s 42. Although on the flip side, the top-of-the-table Panthers have conceded 41 times. But Florida has scored 14 goals more than the Bruins.
Boston is +2200 to win the Stanley Cup. They are +1100 to win the Eastern Conference and +900 fourth-favorite to win the Atlantic Division. The Panthers lead the way in the Atlantic at +110.
Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins Betting Picks and Predictions

Toronto to win and cover the spread is our betting pick.
