Avalanche vs. Kings Match Betting
The betting on this match is very close, but with home ice advantage, the Avalanche are the favorites on the money line at -135. The Kings are +115.
If this fixture were reversed, we believe the Kings would be much shorter in the betting than they are for the road trip.
The top-rated sites for NHL betting online have handed the Kings the 1.5-point start on the handicap spread. To win with the spread, LA is -210. To win and cover the spread, the Avalanche is +180.
On the total points line, the spread is 6.5. Under 6.5 is the favorite at -125 and over is +105.

Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche is 6-4-0 in its last ten matches. During this run, they have averaged 3.4 goals, 5.8 assists, and 2.8 penalties. They have also given up 2.7 goals per match.
Colorado is also on a winning streak of two. An impressive 6-4 home win over the high-flying Hurricanes on Saturday was followed by a 3-2 (OT) win over the Nashville Predators on Monday.
The win was sealed when Samuel Girard scored on a breakaway at 2:47 of overtime. It was clearly a good night for Girard, who also registered an assist as he helped his team to their third win in their last four matches.
In a further boost to head coach Jared Bedner, his team didn’t need to overly rely on the in-form Nathan MacKinnon to seal the win.
Already this season, MacKinnon has seven goals and 23 assists. In the 6-4 victory over the Hurricanes, he contributed one goal and three assists in the 6-4 win. Against the Predators, the center only contributed one assist.
LA Kings
In their last ten matches, the LA Kings have a 6-3-1 record. The run of games includes an average of 3.3 goals, 6.1 assists, and 4.6 penalties. Defensively, they have given up 2.1 goals per game.
The Kings’ form has been up and down. There were back-to-back road-trip wins over the Predators (3-0) and the Wild (5-1) at the beginning of November. But that mini-revival ended last Thursday when the Kings went down 4-2 to the Canucks on home ice.
Jim Hiller’s team did get back on track with a 5-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Saturday. But they couldn’t back that up, losing 3-1 to the Flames on Monday. Two unanswered goals in the second period for Calgary did the damage.
Alex Laferriere has been the in-form player for the Kings this season. The 23-year-old winger has nine goals and six assists. His last contribution was a goal in the comeback 5-2 win over Columbus on Saturday.
Avalanche vs. Kings Betting Picks and Predictions
Colorado seems to have picked up their form on home ice winning their last three. In all three wins, Jared Bednar’s team scored a minimum of three goals. A deeper analysis shows the Avalanche are 8-3-0 when scoring three or more goals.
But the Kings have won two of their last three on the road, losing their most recent. And they are also going through a win-one-lose-one phase at the moment.
In what looks like a 50/50 match, the odds favor a bet on the Kings, and that is the way we are leaning.
We are not backing them on the handicap spread at -210, as we think +115 on a win for the LA Kings is good enough value.
We also believe both teams will score a few in this match. This makes a bet on over 6.5 at +105 worth a small risk. There have been five, ten, and nine scored in Colorado’s last three at the Ball Arena.
