This decision was part of an investigation by the Brazilian Supreme Court into Musk due to the reinstatement of accounts on X that had been previously suspended under a court order.
The Court had directed the removal of far-right accounts linked to the 2023 attack on Congress in Brasília.
The investigation was initiated in April 2024, following Musk’s announcement that he would restore those accounts.
After the platform paid $5.2 million in fines, appointed a legal representative in Brazil, and complied with orders to deactivate the accounts, the ban was lifted on October 8, 2024.
