One of the biggest events on the snooker calendar, The Masters is part of the Triple Crown along with the World Championship and UK Championship. Judd Trump and Ronnie O’Sullivan headline a field featuring the 16 highest-ranked players in the world rankings. Meanwhile, Trump claimed his second-career UK Championship title in December.

Trump and O’Sullivan favored
Judd Trump (+325) is the slight favorite to win The Masters for the second time in three years. In the opening round, he’ll face Barry Hawkins (+2800) in a UK Championship final rematch. Back in December, Trump captured his first UK crown since 2011 with a 10-8 triumph over Hawkins. It was the 30th ranking tournament win of his impressive career.
Ronnie O’Sullivan (+350) was eliminated in the first round of the UK Championship by Hawkins. While the snooker legend has yet to make it past the semifinals of any event this season, he won his record eight Masters title last year. O’Sullivan will open up his title defense against John Higgins (+2500), who he defeated to win his first Masters championship 30 years ago.

Other contenders
Kyren Wilson (+700) has eight ranking tournament titles and won his first World Championship back in May. The 33-year-old blasted the playing surface and table fitters after a semifinals loss to Trump at the UK Championship. Wilson will face Zhang Anda (+3300) in the first round.
Mark Selby (+900) is a four-time world champion with triumphs in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2021. Selby is coming off a disappointing first-round exit at the UK Championship. The three-time Masters champion hasn’t won the event since 2013. The 41-year-old will open against Ali Carter (+4000), a finalist at last year’s tournament.
Masters longshots
Mark Allen (+1200) claimed his first title of the season just before Christmas at the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship. The man from Northern Ireland downed O’Sullivan in the semifinals before beating Luca Brecel 5-1 in the final. Allen won this event back in 2018 and will open against Si Jiahui (+2500).
Ding Junhui (+1600) is one of 13 players from China inside the top 50. The 37-year-old ended a five-year title drought in Nanjing last November. With 15 career ranking tournament titles, he could pull off a surprise at Alexandra Palace.

Best Bet
Given that he’s the current world champion, Kyren Wilson is a strong value (+700) to win his first career Masters title.
