Super Bowl National Anthem history
The over/under on the length of Jon Batiste’s national anthem is set at 120.5 seconds. With the juice (-180) already heavily skewing towards the OVER, the line could tick up. Last year, Reba McEntire’s total opened at 84.5 before moved all the way up to 89.5 seconds before kickoff. The over still hit with the country music legend clocking in at 90 seconds, improving the over to 10-6-2 over the past 18 years.
Batiste’s line opened over 30 seconds longer than McEntire’s. At 120.5, the line’s close to Chris Stapleton’s Star-Spangled Banner performance, which lasted 121 seconds. Alicia Keys’ Super Bowl 57 outing holds the record for longest anthem (2 minutes, 36 seconds) while Neil Diamond staged the quickest rendition at Super Bowl 21 at only 62 seconds.

Batiste scouting report
Jon Batiste doesn’t share much in common with recent national anthem singers at the Super Bowl, as the last four performances have been by country music stars. However, the multi-instrumentalist and composer previously sang the anthem before the 2017 NBA All-Star Game. Not surprisingly, his rendition came in right around the 2-minute mark, matching up with the over-under perfectly.
Assuming the New Orleans native once again plays a piano while singing the anthem in the Superdome, we expect Batiste to hit the OVER on 120.5 seconds (-180). However, keep your eyes out before the big game in case his rehearsal time gets leaked.

Over or under?
Since you can’t have enough patriotism at the Super Bowl, “America the Beautiful” has also been performed before the national anthem at the event since 2009. This year’s rendition will be a collaborative effort between Trombone Shorty and Christian singer Lauren Daigle.
The over/under has been set at 110 seconds for America the Beautiful – and we’ll take the OVER (-115) for this one as well. Both Shorty and Daigle are Grammy winners and Louisiana natives who will want to soak in every moment in front of their home crowd and the millions watching around the world.
