Purple opens as the favorite
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs aren’t the only ones going for a three-peat. Andy Reid has been doused with Purple Gatorade (+125) following their last two Super Bowl victories. Given it’s the closest match to the Eagles uniforms, Yellow/Green/Lime (+225) is next on the board. That was the flavor dumped on Doug Pederson in 2018 following Philadelphia’s win over the Patriots.
But, that all could mean absolutely nothing. According to a former Gatorade exec, the company picks the flavors, not the teams. Apparently, up to three coolers with different flavors are lined up for the players to grab so the selection remains unclear until the team makes their choice.
The first of many.

Longshot flavors
Orange Gatorade (+600) was the Chiefs’ choice after defeating the 49ers in Super Bowl 54. Blue (+800) has been weaponized in three of the past six Super Bowls, but two of the champions (Rams in 2021 and Patriots in 2019) had blue in their uniform color scheme.
Clear/Water (+900) hasn’t been used since four-peating from 2005 to 2008, and Red/Pink (+900) hasn’t made an appearance in more than a quarter century.
Coin Toss Result
Coin Toss | |||
Heads | -101 | -101 | -101 |
Tails | -101 | -101 | -101 |
Heads or Tails?
Not surprisingly, the results of this one has pretty much been a coin toss over the past 58 Super Bowls. In the all-time series, Tails (-101) leads Heads (-101) 30 to 28. Heads has made a bit of a run lately, landing face up in three of the past four years. This was after an impressive Tails run that saw it deliver in 5 of 7 Super Bowls.
Bettors can also wager if the team that calls the coin toss will be correct. Kansas City has won the game and the coin toss in each of the past two seasons. Before that, the club that won the coin toss ended up losing the game in eight consecutive years.
