With the 2025 Australian Open behind us, the next Grand Slam on the 2025 schedule is the upcoming French Open at Roland Garros Stadium in Paris, France. Jannik Sinner won the first Grand Slam of 2025 with his second straight victory at the Australian Open. The win was the second consecutive Grand Slam title for the 23-year-old Italian, as he finished 2024 with a win at the U.S. Open. Sinner made it to the semifinals of the 2024 French Open, losing to eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz in five sets. With his five-set victory over Alexander Zverev in the final of the 2024 French Open, Alcaraz claimed his first French Open title and fourth Grand Slam victory. It is no surprise to see Skinner and Alcaraz installed as the betting favorites to win the 2025 French Open.

This year marks the 124th edition of the French Open. The last man to win back-to-back French Open titles was Rafael Nadal, who strung together a run of four consecutive wins between 2017 and 2020. Nadal is also the all-time leader in French Open titles with 14. Bjorn Borg is second on that list during the open era with six wins. Max Decugis had eight French Open wins during the amateur era.

Carlos Alcaraz betting breakdown

Carlos Alcaraz has already claimed four major championships in his young career. Two of those Grand Slam victories came in 2024 when he won the French Open and Wimbledon. He was bounced in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Australian Open and failed to make it past the second round of the U.S. Open last year. His other two Grand Slam wins came in 2022 at the U.S. Open and Wimbledon in 2023. In the first Grand Slam event of 2025, Alcaraz fell in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open with a four-set loss to Novak Djokovic.

The 21-year-old Alcaraz slowly climbed the French Open ladder, losing in the third round in 2021, the quarterfinals in 2022, and the semis in 2023 before winning in 2024. In the final last year, Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev in five sets.

Alcaraz is the No. 3 player in the ATP rankings  behind Skinner and the No. 2 Zverev

The No. 1 men’s tennis player in the world according to the ATP rankings, Jannik Sinner became the first man to win back-to-back Australian Open titles since Novak Djokovic won three in a row between 2019 and 2021. The 23-year-old also had a win at the 2024 U.S. Open, which means he heads into the 2025 French Open with two straight Grand Slam titles to his name.

Novak Djokovic betting breakdown

It’s not a surprise to see Novak Djokovic‘s name among the betting favorites to win the 2025 French Open. The 37-year-old has three wins at this event, with his most recent victory coming in 2023. Last year, Djokovic withdrew from the event because of a knee injury. Djokovic has an 86 percent winning percentage at the French Open, which is his lowest winning percentage in Grand Slam events, trailing the U.S. Open (87 percent), Wimbledon (89 percent), and the Australian Open (91 percent). Djokovic played in the 2025 Australian Open, losing to Zverev in the semifinals due to retirement because of a hamstring injury. He had lost the first set (7-6) before leaving the court.

As of this writing, Djokovic claims he is nearly back to 100 percent from that injury. He and coach Andy Murray announced they will work together through this year’s Wimbledon event.
