Founded in 1997, Unibet is among the veterans of the online gaming industry. Their parent company was initially called Unibet Group Plc, but they eventually switched over to the Kindred Group. They opened their first Unibet sportsbook service and began offering Unibet mobile betting services.

Known as pioneers in the live betting industry, which they joined back in 2003, Unibet has subsidized its sports wagering business with a strong foothold in the casino industry. Between the Unibet casino and the Kindred Group’s other holdings, the company has a vast array of online and on-site casino experiences.

Unibet Sportsbook Review

Once the legalization of sports betting in the United States became official, Unibet redoubled their efforts on live betting. They have since partnered with a handful of North American sports franchises and are an official affiliate of the NBA. In October 2020, they also opened the United States’ first sports-themed casino.

Because Unibet is based in Malta, they are not publicly traded or required to release their business vitals. With that said, as of 2024, they reportedly boast 15 million users across 100 different countries. It is not unclear how many of those customers are from the United States, but Unibet has invested ample money in cracking Northeastern sports betting markets in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

States Where Unibet Sportsbook Offers Retail Betting

Back in 2018, the U.S. federal government amended their gambling laws and gave each individual state the power to legalize sports betting if they so choose. Since then, more than half of the 50 states—in addition to Washington, D.C.—have given the green light. However, Unibet sports betting is only available online at the moment. You can find the full list of states that allow Unibet sportsbook online further below.

Given that that parent company of Unibet is based in Malta, it’s not surprising the company has been slower to roll out access in the physical North American sports betting markets. They have, however, become one of the more popular places for sports betting in New Jersey, otherwise known as the “Las Vegas of the East Coast.”

Unibet Mobile Betting per US State

As of November 2024, Unibet has ceased its operations in the United States. Previously, it offered sports betting services in several states, including Arizona, Indiana, Iowa, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Unibet Sportsbook Features

Now that Unibet has opened up online and on-site ventures to become a full-fledged North American sportsbook, their list of sports and competitions has been formulated accordingly. Much like the other best online sportsbooks in the United States, they carry betting lines on all the major sports and leagues, as you can see below:

  • NFL Betting
  • College Football
  • NBA Betting
  • College Basketball
  • NHL Betting
  • MLB Betting
  • Boxing
  • Golf
  • Mixed Martial Arts
  • NASCAR/Other Motorsports
  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Esports

The Unibet sportsbook desktop is fairly functional for a company so committed to pushing their mobile betting app. The menu on the left side of your screen that has all the sports isn’t nearly large enough, but when you actually enter the “room” for each, the games, futures, props and live betting lines are much easier to read.

Unibet also has a section dedicated entirely to events and competitions that will be starting within the next hour, which can be super useful for spur-of-the-moment bettors. Going through the sign-up process didn’t take us that long, either. And we found the section dedicated entirely to current promotions and bonuses extremely informative.

If the Unibet desktop sportsbook can benefit from anything, it’s the implementation of a voice. The Unibet website is too basic and vanilla. Cobbling together a “blog” section or even more creative prompts on their user interface would go a long way towards enriching the experience.

Unibet Mobile Betting

Users should find the Unibet mobile betting experience to be free from wrinkles. The same layout problems that plague their desktop site aren’t an issue here. The green and white color scheme for betting lines is perfectly visible, and they dedicate most of the screen’s space to both them and the actual event in question.

All the same categories found on the desktop site translate to the Unibet mobile betting app. More conveniently, though, as soon as you login you’re taken directly to the page of upcoming betting lines for your preferred competition. If betting on UFC is your most popular action, then the app will intuit that and log you into that home page.

The Unibet mobile betting site includes a robust live betting section, aptly labeled “Happening Now,” as well. They do a good job demarcating the betting lines and updates to any odds will be displayed in yellow. While the app doesn’t have the most stellar ratings overall in the Google and Apple stores, it seems many of the issues originate in the casino section.

Unibet Customer Service

Unibet Customer Service

Where some sportsbooks fail to adequately denote availability for their customer service reps, Unibet sportsbook does not cloak their hours of operation. Yes, their “Support” page will send you to a landing spot with an avalanche of “Frequently Asked Questions,” but at the bottom of your screen there will be an icon that allows you to start an automated chat with a bot. If you wish to speak with Unibet Customer Service over the phone, meanwhile, they are open between 8:00 a.m. EST and 11:00 p.m. EST, seven days a week.
