Viktor Axelsen vs. Yushi Tanaka

Viktor Axelsen-3300-3300-3300
Yushi Tanaka+900+900+900

There is little point backing the -3300 moneyline odds for Axelsen. However, I like the look of the spread as I expect this to be extremely comfortable for the Dane in his home tournament.

Axelsen, the world’s most famous Badminton player, has been in exceptional form. In August, he won Olympic Gold and followed that up with a Hong Kong Open win in which he didn’t drop a single game.

This will be 2-0 and I expect it to be roughly 21-12, 21-12 which would comfortably reach the threshold for the spread bet.

Cheuk Yiu Lee vs. Lan Xi Lei

It is a little surprising to see Lee slated as underdog in this fixture. Lee is in better form and is six places higher in the world rankings than his opponent. The world number 16 looked strong in the opening two rounds of the recent Arctic Open before losing to eventual finalist and world number 5, Jonatan Christie.

Lei was knocked out in the first round in a thrilling 2-1 loss to number 30, Yushi Tanaka. The odds are probably in Lei’s favor due to the fact that he beat his opponent last month in a 2-1 win in Hong Kong. However, I like the underdog in this match.

Kodai Naraoka vs. Kean Yew Loh

Kodai Naraoka at even money is a tempting proposition, albeit, he is playing a strong opponent. Naraoka’s record of making it past the first round in tournaments is exceptional. He is a serial semi-finalist. Loh’s recent record is fairly unimpressive. The world number 11 hasn’t made it past the second round of a tournament since a third round appearance at the Singapore Open in May.

I expect this will be a win for Naraoka.

Kunlavut Vitidsarn vs. Kantaphon Wangcharoen

Two Thai players square off in the opening round in Denmark. Vitidsarn is a massive favorite at odd of -2000 but the spread offers reasonable value. The world number 7 has had a strong year so far, reaching multiple semi-finals and winning the Olympic Silver medal.

Wangcharoen is world number 36 and rarely makes it past the first round of big tournaments. This is likely to be 2-0 and probably at least 21-14, 21-14 which would mean a 13.5 point spread bet would come in.

Ka Long Angus Ng vs. Alex Lanier

I include this pick as I like the 2-1 correct score bet. I think it will be a close match between the world numbers 20 and 21 but I predict the Frenchman Lanier to edge it.

Denmark Open Badminton

The Denmark Open, previously known as the Danish Open, is an annual badminton competition organized by Badminton Denmark. It has been part of the BWF Super Series Premier from 2011 to 2017 and, since 2018, has been categorized as one of the five BWF World Tour Super 750 events under the BWF event structure.

First established in 1936, the Denmark Open is the second-oldest badminton tournament in the world, though it was temporarily halted during World War II and again from 1956 to 1964. The event consistently attracts top-tier players from around the globe and is typically held in late October each year.

The tournament has been hosted in eleven different locations over the years, with the 2007 and 2008 editions taking place at Arena Fyn in Odense. Since 2008, Odense has continued to serve as the tournament’s home.
