The big picture

Jake Paul’s encounter with ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson may be getting all the publicity. But on the undercard of their ‘fight’ is a rematch that may well be the best scrap of the entire show.

Ireland’s Katie Taylor is defending her IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO women’s super lightweight titles against Amanda Serrano or Puerto Rico.

The fight is a rematch of the pair’s classic encounter at Madison Square Garden in 2022. On that occasion, Taylor won a pulsating lightweight contest by a split decision (94–96, 97–93, and 96–93).

Two years on, and we finally get the rematch.

The rematch is super lightweight. When the second fight couldn’t be made at the first time of asking, Taylor stepped up a division and challenged Chantelle Cameron for her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring female super-lightweight titles.

Cameron accepted and inflicted Taylor’s first professional defeat on her, in the challenger’s first ever pro-fight in her home country of Ireland.

Not one to finish on a losing note, Taylor activated her rematch clause and returned the favor by inflicting a first-ever defeat on Cameron in the second fight.

The trilogy is set to come. And that could be bigger and better. But for now, Taylor’s sights are firmly set on defending her titles against Serrano.

If she defeats Serrano again, the argument is put to bed. If Serrano pulls off a shock win, we may have a trilogy fight to look forward to.

Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano Betting Odds

Katie Taylor is the favorite to win the fight. On the money line, the best boxing betting sites make Taylor -145 to claim the 24th professional win of her career. To pull off what can only be called a small shock, Amanda Serrano is +120.

The bookmakers are expecting the fight to go to the scorecards. In the total rounds betting, over 8.5 rounds is -800, with under 8.5 at +500. Don’t forget with this being a women’s fight, there are only ten two-minute rounds, not the 12 we see in men’s championship fights.

The props markets back up the view that the fight will go the distance. To win by KO, TKO, or DQ, Amanda Serrano is the favorite at +600, highlighting her additional punching power. Katie Taylor is +1100 to finish the fight early.

To win on points, Taylor is -110, with Serrano at +210. And with this set to be a close contest, the draw is short at +1200.

Taylor lost the first fight against Cameron by majority decision (94–96, 94–96, 95–95).

In the rematch, Taylor had her revenge. This time the Bray Bomber was better prepared and in a pulsating contest she won by majority decision (95-95, 98-92, 96-94).

Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano betting picks

Amanda Serrano is a vastly more experienced boxer than Katie Taylor. But don’t let that fool you into thinking that increases her chances of winning.

Taylor is as battle-hardened as you will find. She may have 26 professional fights fewer than Serrano. But that is probably a positive, as it means Taylor has taken less punishment.

Furthermore, Amanda Serrano has only stopped one of her last eight opponents. Could this be a sign that her punching power is on the wane?

The smart money is for the fight to go the distance. But at -800, we are not naming over 8.5 rounds as one of our boxing picks. The odds are way too short.

Instead, we are backing Katie Taylor to win the fight. Back her to win on points at -110 if you want the better odds.
