The 2025 Grammy Awards take place on February 2, 2025, from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The award show honors the best recordings, compositions, and artists who released music between September 16, 2023, and August 30, 2024. With the eligibility period passed and the announcement of the nominees occurring on Friday, November 8, 2024, we look at the early predictions, picks, and betting odds for the artists who could be in the running for Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Last year, Taylor Swift made Grammy history when she broke a tie with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon when she took home her fourth Album of the Year award for Midnights. The expectation is that Swift will be in the running for a fifth Album of the Year award for The Tortured Poets Department, which was released on April 19, 2024. Swift could get competition from Billie Eilish for Hit Me Hard and Soft, which was released on May 17, and Beyonce‘s Cowboy Carter, which came out on March 29.

Taylor Swift – The Tortured Poets Department
The 2025 Album of the Year nominees have not been named, but there’s a better-than-average chance that Taylor Swift will find herself on the list for The Tortured Poets Department. If Swift does get a nomination in this category, it will mark the seventh time she’s been up for Album of the Year. That would give her the record for most nominations in the category. Swift is currently tied with Barbra Streisand with six Album of the Year nods.
As of this writing, The Tortured Poets Department has been on the Billboard charts for 26 weeks. The record spent 12 straight weeks at No. 1 between May 4 and July 20. Swift’s latest release returned to the top spot for three more weeks between August 10 and August 24. No other release in 2024 has spent more than three weeks at No. 1.
Swift has Album of the Year Grammys for Fearless, 1989, Folklore, and Midnights. She has won a total of 14 Grammys and has 52 nominations.
Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft
Billie Eilish‘s latest release, Hit Me Hard and Soft did not top the Billboard charts this year. The album topped out at No. 2, but it has been on the charts for 22 weeks. Hit Me Hard and Soft is still in the top 10 as of this writing. Eilish won the Album of the Year category five years ago for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? She was nominated three years ago for Happier Than Ever.
At just 22, Eilish has nine Grammy wins and 25 nominations. Eilish picked up four nominations last year. She won two Grammys for Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media. Both victories came for “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie the Album.
Beyonce – Cowboy Carter
Beyonce‘s Cowboy Carter was one of the most talked about albums of the year. The record hit No. 1 for two weeks in April. Cowboy Carter marked the eighth time Beyonce had an album top the Billboard charts.
No one has won more Grammys than Beyonce, with 32. However, she has never picked up the Album of the Year award. Could 2025 be the year that changes? Talia Kraines, Senior Editor of Pop at Spotify, said of the record, “Uplifting other Black female country artists and creating important conversations that needed to happen is so important.”
Beyonce has been nominated for Album of the Year for I Am…Sasha Fierce, Beyonce, Lemonade, and Renaissance.
Best bet to win 2025 Grammy for Album of the Year
