The 2025 Grammy Awards take place on February 2, 2025, from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The award show honors the best recordings, compositions, and artists who released music between September 16, 2023, and August 30, 2024. The Recording Academy of the United States present the Grammys on an annual basis to recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry. One of the most anticipated categories of the Grammys is the presentation of the Song of the Year award. Last year, Billie Eilish won for “What Was I Made For?” from the “Barbie” Soundtrack. A song she had performed earlier during the Grammys ceremony.
The Academy named the nominees for the Best New Artist for the 67th Grammy Awards on November 8. Artists in the running for Song of the Year in 2025 are Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga with Bruno Mars, Chappel Roan, Beyonce, Sabrina Carpenter, Shaboozey and Taylor Swift.

Billie Eilish: “Birds of a Feather”
Written by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, “Birds of a Feather” gives the pair a chance to become the first three-time winners of “Song of the Year.” They also won in 2024 for “What Was I Made For?” and for “Bad Guy” in 2020. Overall, Billie Eilish has won nine Grammy awards. In addition to Song of the Year, “Birds of a Feather” is nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Eilish is the overwhelming betting favorite in this category. Still, one thing is working against her, other than the fact that no one has won the award three times. No artist has won Song of the Year at back-to-back Grammys since Bette Midler did so in 1990 and 1991 for “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “From a Distance.”
Kendrick Lamar: “Not Like Us”
One of the most notable songs of the year, and one that picked up some new life when Drake filed a lawsuit against his own record label because of the content of the song “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar, is also in the running for “Rap Song of the Year.”
The early betting odds for “Not Like Us” to win the Grammy in the Song of the Year category saw it listed behind Chappel Roan’s “Good Luck Babe!” but Lamar has jumped ahead of Roan as the 2025 Grammy Awards near. While the betting odds have improved for the song, it’s hard to believe that Lamar will win in Rap Song of the Year and Song of the Year. The only other song to achieve that was “This is America” by Childish Gambino in 2019.
Chappel Roan: “Good Luck, Babe!”
The betting favorite to win Best New Artist, Chappel Roan, is also in the running for Song of the Year for the biggest song on her “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” release, “Good Luck, Babe!” Roan has the support of Eilish, who called the song her favorite of the year, but she has to overcome some fairly long odds to beat out Lamar and Eilish in this category.
Some oddsmakers had Roan second to Eilish in the initial betting odds for this Grammys category. Roan has now slipped to fourth in some of those listings. Roan might be a good value pick, but her chances of winning this award seem rather slim.
Best bet to win 2025 Song of the Year Grammy
“Birds of a Feather” has been the betting favorite since odds opened in this category. While there has been some shuffling of the betting odds for the other songs, Billie Eilish has seemed to be locked in to win Song of the Year.
