- Kevin Hart (+500) is the favorite to host the 2025 Oscars despite saying he has no interest in the position
- Amy Schumer (+600), Regina Hall (+800) and Wanda Sykes (+1200) shared co-hosting duties in 2022
- The 97th Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on March 2, 2025
While the Oscars host typically isn’t announced until November or December, we know it won’t be Jimmy Kimmel again. The four-time master of ceremonies recently announced he wouldn’t be hosting the 97th Annual Academy Awards because it’s too much of a distraction from his late-night talk show.
Who will step into Kimmel’s shoes in 2025? Before we look at the Oscar Host odds and make our picks, here’s where you can check out the top betting sites for Entertainment in 2024 and get the latest Oscars Betting Odds.

Kevin Hart favored
Kevin Hart (+500) has been installed as the favorite after successfully hosting Tom Brady’s Netflix roast. However, the 45-year-old comedian reiterated in January that he has no interest in hosting the Oscars. Hart was scheduled to host the 2019 Academy Awards before a public outcry over his previous anti-gay tweets caused him to step down.
“Those gigs aren’t good gigs for comics,” Hart told Sky News. “It’s no shot to the Oscars, no shot to the Globes or anything else. Those just aren’t comedy-friendly environments anymore.”

2022 redo?
Amy Schumer (+600), Regina Hall (+800) and Wanda Sykes (+1200) shared hosting duties at the 94th Oscars. While they did a fantastic job, their performance was overshadowed by Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on stage.
Could the trio be given another shot?
Bad wagers to avoid
Jimmy Fallon (+800) is unlikely to host for two important reasons. One, he’s painfully unfunny. Two, the Tonight Show airs on NBC, and ABC holds the rights to the Academy Awards and will be reluctant to provide that kind of a showcase to Kimmel’s competitor. Jon Stewart (+800) got the call in 2006 and 2008, but America has only become more divided in the past 15 years and ABC likely won’t want to anger half the country.
Ricky Gervais (+1000) has hosted the Golden Globe Awards five times, but the British funnyman is best known for making celebrities uncomfortable. That’s something Oscars’ producers always try to avoid.

Best bet
Steve Martin (+1200) has hosted the Academy Awards on three different occasions (2001, 2003, 2010). While it’s been well over a decade since the 78-year-old last co-hosted with Alec Baldwin, he’s enjoying a career renaissance with Only Murders In The Building, which just so happens to air on ABC.
With a fourth season set to premiere later this summer, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Steve Martin co-host the Oscars with Murders co-star and good friend Martin Short this March.
