Paper Rex
One of the top teams in the Pacific, Paper Rex, is coming off two strong finishes in major events. The team, which is based out of Singapore, placed third at the VCT 2023: Masters Tokyo and finished as runner-up in the Valorant Champions 2023 tournament. In 2022, Paper Rex placed 9th-12th in the Champions event. They fell to Evil Geniuses in this year’s Champions event, 3-1. That same team downed Paper Rex in the Tokyo event. Fortunately for the squad, whose roster has been playing together since October of this year, Evil Geniuses is not playing at the AfreecaTV Valorant League 2023.
Edward Gaming
Edward Gaming, who play out of China, has been playing better as the year continues. The team placed 13th-16th in the Valorant Champions 2022 tournament. They followed that with a disappointing 17th-32nd at the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo in March of this year, but things have been looking up for Edward Gaming. They placed 5th-6th in both the VCT 2023: Masters Tokyo and VALORANT Champions 2023. Most recently, Edward Gaming won the VALORANT China Evolution Series Act 2: Selection event.
The current roster of Edward Gaming has been playing together since July 2022.
DRX
Playing out of Korea, DRX had an off year in 2023. After placing third in the VALORANT Champions 2022 event, the club finished in 5th-6th in the 2023 version of that event. However, DRX started the year reasonably strong, placing 3rd-4th at the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo event and finishing as the runner-up team at VCT 2023: Pacific League.
DRX has been playing together as a team since early 2022.
