The 2024 Valorant Esports season began with the Kickoff events in February. Sentinels won the Americas portion of those tournaments. That team, along with the runner-up squad, LOUD, represented the region in the Masters Madrid event in March. Sentinels won that competition, taking home $250,000 in prize money. Meanwhile, LOUD placed fourth and earned $35,000. The 11 teams in the Valorant Americas league then faced off in the VCT 2024: Americas Stage 1 event. 100 Thieves, who were among the betting underdogs at +2000, won that event. 100 Thieves
100 Thieves finished 11th out of 11 teams in the Americas League Kickoff event in February. The club then had a miraculous turnaround in May when they ran through the competition at the Americas League Stage 1 event, putting together a record of 9-2 on their way to winning that event with a 3-0 victory over G2 Esports in the Grand Final. The team followed that with a solid performance at the Masters event in Shanghai, where they fell to Team Heretics in the Lower Bracket Semifinal.
Outside of their shaky start to open 2024, 100 Thieves have been playing incredibly well, and they are the betting favorites to win the VCT 2024: Americas Stage 2 event.
Sentinels
The winners of the Americas Kickoff event and the Masters Madrid tournament, Sentinels headed into the Americas Stage 1 competition with momentum and confidence. With how the team has played in 2024, it’s was no surprise to see them listed as the +225 betting favorite to win that event. However, Sentinels failed to get out of the Group Stage of the Americas Kickoff event. They went 3-3 in Group Alpha, which put them behind KRU Esports, Could9, and G2 Esports. Sentinels look to bounce back from that poor 7th-8th place finish in Stage 2.
Sentinels had some hype behind them heading into 2023, but the team never got things going. They finished the 2023 Americas League in a disappointing seventh place and failed to qualify for any international events. They turned things around at the end of the year, earning a first-place finish in December at the AfreecaTV tournament.
Sentinels added two new members to its roster in 2024, but both players came on before the Madrid event.
LOUD
The winners of $100,000 and the VCT 2023 Americas League regular season, LOUD struggled in the 2023 Masters Tokyo event, placing 7th-8th. The team followed that with an impressive third-place finish at the Valorant Champions 2023 competition. Things have been going well for the club squad in 2024, with a runner-up finish at the Americas Kickoff event and a fourth place in the Masters Madrid tourney. However, LOUD did not do well in the Americas League Stage 1 event, failing to make it to the Masters Shanghai event after placing 5th-6th in that event.
