Gaimin Gladiators
Playing out of Europe, Gaimin Gladiators were on a roll in 2023. Heading into the Riyadh Masters 2023 event, the club had won five straight Dota 2 events: Lima Major 2023, DreamLeague Season 19, ESL One Berlin Major 2023, DreamLeague Season 20, and Bali Major 2023. With those victories, Gaimin Gladiators earned over $1 million in prize money. The team’s winning streak ended at the Riyadh Masters. They came in fourth there after losing to Talon Esports in the Lower Bracket Semifinals. Gaimin Gladiators bounced back from that setback by winning at BetBoom Dacha in September. Gaiman Gladiators finished the 2023 International as the runner-up, which was an enormous improvement over their 9th-12th place in 2022.
In 2024, Gaiman Gladiators are the No. 2 ranked team in the world. They are coming off a win at the 2024 Riyadh Masters and a runner-up finish at the 1win Series Dota 2 Summer tournament.
Team Spirit
Team Spirit had a disappointing finish last year at The International in 2022, bowing out in 13th-16th place. What made that placing hurt more for the Russian team is that they were coming off a win at The International in 2021. Team Spirit bounced back from its finish at the 2022 International in 2023, winning the Riyadh Masters 2023 event for $5 million in July of this year and then picking up first place at DreamLeague Season 21 in late September. They then took first place at The International in 2023.
Team Spirit, who play out of Russia, are the No. 4 ranked Dota 2 team in the world. Heading into this year’s edition of The International, they had a disappointing 7th-8th place finish at the Riyadh Masters following a win at the 1win Series Dota 2 Summer event. Most recently, Team Spirit had a runner-up performance at FISSURE Universe: Episode 3.
Team Falcons
Currently the No. 1 ranked Dota 2 team in the world, Team Falcons, who play out of Saudi Arabia, have had a fantastic year in 2024 with wins at BetBoom Dacha Dubai, ESL One Birmingham, Dream League Season 22, Dream League Season 22 and FISSURE Universe: Episode 3. In addition, the team finished third at Riyadh Masters 2024, PGL Wallachia Season 1, and second in Elite League Season 1.
Team Falcons have been a dominant force since the ESL Pro Tour added a MENA region in 2023.
