BLAST makes its entrance into Dota 2 in a big way with the upcoming BLAST Slam I event in Copenhagen. The event features 10 teams with a prize pool of $1 million. The winning team earns $400,000, while the runner-up takes home $200,000. BLAST has eight more Dota 2 slam events planned for 2025 and 2026. The esports production company is best known for its Counter-Strike tournaments.
Each of the teams participating in BLAST Slam 1 are direct invites. The tournament begins with the Group Stage and then moves on to the Gauntlet Stage. The Group Stage features two groups of five teams. In that stage, the squads compete in a round-robin format with best-of-one matches. Team performance in the Group Stage dictates placement in the Gauntlet Stage. The top teams from each group advance directly to the semifinals, the second-placed teams to the quarterfinals, the third-placed teams to round two, while the fourth and fifth-placed teams to round one. The Gauntlet Stage is a single-elimination format tournament.

Team Falcons
Currently the No. 1 ranked Dota 2 team in the world, Team Falcons, who play out of Saudi Arabia, had a fantastic start to 2024 with wins at BetBoom Dacha Dubai, ESL One Birmingham, Dream League Season 22, Dream League Season 22 and FISSURE Universe: Episode 3. In addition, the team finished third at Riyadh Masters 2024, PGL Wallachia Season 1, and second in Elite League Season 1. However, the club faltered at The International in September, finishing in fourth place after losing to Tundra Esports in the Lower Bracket Semifinal.
Team Falcons has played well since The International, most recently winning BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 and DreamLeague Season 24.
Team Falcons have been a dominant force since the ESL Pro Tour added a MENA region in 2023. The team has been playing together since late 2023.
BB Team
Playing out of Russia, BetBoom Team are the No. 2 ranked Dota 2 squad in the world. They’ve achieved that ranking without winning an event in 2024. However, the team has played well in 2024, picking up runner-up finishes in DreamLeague Season 22, ESL One Birmingham, and DreamLeague Season 24. BB Team has also placed third at BetBoom Dacha Dubai, DreamLeague Season 23, and BetBoom Dacha Belgrade.
BB Team had a disappointing 5th-6th place finish at The International in September. Team Falcons eliminated them in Round 3 of play in that event.
Most of BB Team’s roster has been together since the beginning of 2024, but the team added kiyotaka and MieRo` following The International.
Team Liquid
The No. 5 Dota 2 squad in the world, Team Liquid, is struggling in 2024. The team placed second at Riyadh Masters in July and followed that with an enormous win at The International in September, but they have not had great results for most of the year. Team Liquid is coming off a 6th-place finish at DreamLeague Season 24 and a 7th-8th place finish at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade.
The bulk of Team Liquid’s roster has been together since 2019. Nisha joined in 2022, and the team’s newest member is SaberLight, who joined following The International. SaberLight replaced 33, who left to join Tundra Esports.
