- Max Verstappen (-215) is favored to win his third-consecutive Canadian Grand Prix
- Charles Leclerc (+450) and Lando Norris (+450) are both looking for their first career victory in Montreal
- The 70-lap, 2.41-mile Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve hosts Round 9 of the F1 season on June 9, 2024
Dare we say it, Formula 1 is genuinely competitive for the first time in a long time. After a dominant stretch that saw Max Verstappen win 23 of 27 races, the three-time reigning champion has only captured one of the past three events.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc claimed the checkered flag in Monaco and McLaren’s Lando Norris picked up his first career victory in Miami about a month ago. Before we look at the betting odds for the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix, check out the top Formula 1 betting sites in 2024.

Verstappen favored in Montreal
Max Verstappen (-215) easily defended his title in Montreal last season, leading the Canadian GP from start to finish. However, the Dutchman is coming off his worst result since the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in November 2022. A sixth-place finish in Monaco.
Verstappen’s struggles began in Friday’s practice sessions and carried over to Saturday, when he failed to earn a record-breaking ninth consecutive pole position. But, with victories in five of eight races this season, the 26-year-old still maintains a 31-point lead in the drivers standings.

Leclerc narrow the gap
Ferrari is just 24 points behind Red Bull in the constructors’ championship after Charles Leclerc (+450) and Carlos Sainz (+2500) both landed on the podium last weekend. Leclerc won on home soil for the first time after squandering pole position at Monaco in both 2021 and 2022. The Monegasque driver has been remarkably consistent in 2024, having placed no worse than fourth in all eight races this season.
Leclerc’s triumph in Monaco was his first win since Austria in July 2022. Looking to follow up his sixth career victory, the 26-year-old’s best result in Montreal was third-place in 2019. He also finished top-five in both 2022 and 2023.
McLaren to end Canadian curse?
McLaren is on a bit of a roll lately after being uncompetitive for the past decade. Lando Norris (+450) placed second at the Emilia-Romagna GP after claiming his first victory in 110 career starts in Miami. His teammate Oscar Piastri (+1100) then picked up his first podium of the season in Monaco, equaling his career-best with a runner-up finish.
While McLaren hasn’t even scored a single point on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve since 2014, they have the momentum to end the curse in Montreal.

Best Bet
Max Verstappen (-215) is no longer “automatic”, already suffering three defeats in 2024 compared to just one in 22 races last year. With both McLaren drivers showing week to week consistency, we’ll take Lando Norris (+450) to win the Canadian GP and put an end to his team’s decade-long Montreal curse.
