Donald Trump
The overwhelming favorite for The Person of the Year award is Donald Trump. Oddsmakers have priced him at -500 to take home the award. -500 odds have an implied probability of just over 83%.
Trump previously won this award in 2016 when he won the presidential election for the first time. He recently won the 2024 presidential election a few weeks ago.

His victory in the presidential election indicates why he’s such a heavy favorite to win this award again. Most were named Man or Person of the Year either the year they were elected or while they were in office.
While it’s likely that Donald Trump will win this award, the price isn’t worth investing in. I would not be willing to bet him to win at this price of -500 odds.

+300 odds indicate an implied probability of 25% to win the award. That feels like a sharp number by oddsmakers. However, I would favor betting on AI to win this award at that price.
If this weren’t an election year, I would be sure that AI would win this award. Even if it doesn’t win this year, it will likely win it next year.

The next choice we have to examine is Sean “Diddy” Combs. Combs has had an eventful year. In March 2024, the Department of Homeland Security conducted raids related to an investigation involving Combs.

Combs has pleaded not guilty and is currently in federal custody after being denied bail twice. His trial is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
Although Sean Combs fame has taken a turn oddsmakers have priced him at +800 to win Time Person of the Year. The implied probability of Combs winning at +800 is a little over 11%.
It doesn’t seem like a good bet to back Combs in this one. There hasn’t been an alleged criminal win this award. The editors typically stay away from awarding controversial figures.

Musk has had an eventful 2024 as well. Musk is recognized as the world’s wealthiest individual. He is the owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media platform X.

Additionally, he has several smaller technology companies under his belt, such as the artificial intelligence firm xAI and the neurotechnology enterprise Neuralink.
Musk’s vast fortune, combined with his significant influence on X, played a crucial role in supporting President-elect Trump during the final stages of the campaign.
Although, it’s unlikely Musk wins this award, the odds of +2000 are fantastic. Those odds are too tempting to pass up, I would definitely bet on Musk at that price.
