German Bundesliga Table Tennis
The Bundesliga holds the top spot in Germany’s table tennis league system. It first launched in the 1966-67 season with eight competing teams, and has been running annually ever since, though the number of participating teams has varied. 12 teams are taking part in the 2024-25 season.
The season is divided into two primary stages: the Rankings phase and the Playoffs. Before the season begins, teams must register between 3 to 6 players, assigning them to specific positions from 1st to 6th, with the 4th to 6th players acting as substitutes.
Matches are conducted as group contests. Each consist of five games played in a best-of-three format. The first four games are singles, while the fifth is a doubles match. The doubles team is selected after the second singles match.
Throughout the Rankings phase, teams face off both at home and away against every other team in the league. The top four teams from this phase move on to the Playoffs. The winner of the Playoff rounds is crowned Bundesliga champion.

In the opening round of the Playoffs, the top-ranked team squares off against the fourth seed, while the second and third seeds go head-to-head. Each series can consist of up to three matches.
