Fulda-Maberzell (-170)
Fulda have won their opening two games of the season. In round one, they beat Ochsenhausen in a convincing 3-1 win. Then in round two, they stunned Dusseldorf 3-0. Dusseldorf are the champions and were big favorites going into that match having won 3-0 in their opening match so it was a big upset and will give Fulda immense confidence for the rest of the season.
Bad Konigshofen (+120)
Konigshofen have also made an unbeaten start to the season. However, their quality of opponent has been fairly weak. They dispatched struggling Muhlhausen 3-0 on the opening day but were made to work in week 2, scraping a 3-2 win over Ochsenhausen.
Fulda-Maberzell vs. Bad Konigshofen Previous Table Tennis Meetings
Last season, these teams played out two entertaining matches with a victory for each side. Back in March, Fulda went to Konigshofen and won 3-1. It was revenge for Konigshofen beating their opponents 3-2 in the other fixture earlier in the season. Going back even further, the previous season, Bad Konigshofen won both matches 3-2 and 3-0.
Prediction and Betting Pick
Despite Bad’s three victories in the previous four meetings, I am backing Fulda to win this one. They look a better outfit than they have in recent seasons. Their start to the season has been fantastic and their win over the champions, Dusseldorf, will give them enormous confidence to go on and win the game and go top of the league.

German Bundesliga Table Tennis
The Bundesliga stands as the premier league in the German table tennis hierarchy. The inaugural season of the Bundesliga took place in 1966-67, featuring eight teams. Since then, the league has been held annually with a fluctuating number of participating teams. For the 2024-25 season, 12 teams will be competing in the Bundesliga.
The season is split into two key phases: the Rankings phase and the Playoffs. Before the season kicks off, each team must register 3 to 6 players, assigning them specific positions, from the 1st player down to the 6th, with the 4th to 6th positions serving as substitutes.
Matches are structured as group encounters, with each group match consisting of five games using a best-of-three sets format. The first four games are singles, while the fifth game is a doubles match, in which the 1st player is not permitted to participate. The doubles lineup is determined at the conclusion of the second singles game.
During the Rankings phase, each team plays both home and away matches against every other team in the league. The top four teams at the end of this phase progress to the Playoff stage, which is made up of two rounds. The team that emerges victorious in the Playoff rounds claims the Bundesliga title.
The Playoffs
In the first round of the Playoffs, the top-seeded team faces the fourth seed, while the second seed takes on the third seed. Each matchup can involve up to three matches, with the first team to lose two matches being eliminated. The first two matches alternate between home and away venues, with the higher-ranked team hosting the first match. If a third match is needed, it will be held at the home venue of the higher-ranked team.
The second Playoff round, or the final, is held at a neutral site, where only one match is played to determine the Bundesliga champion.
