With the weather getting frosty and the ground getting icy, curling season is officially upon us. Canada is the next best with three golds. However, they’re tied with China with the same count. Many casual bettors don’t think of China as curling powerhouses, but they are — at least in the wheelchair world. After them, the only two other countries to have won gold before are the hosts, Scotland, who’ve won this event twice, and Switzerland has a single gold medal.
Anywho, these countries, plus six more, will compete in a round-robin-style tournament come March. This almost yearly event will play out like the others have — there’s one giant table, not different ones. Everyone plays once and the top six teams advance to the postseason with the top-two seeds getting first-round byes. Once in the playoffs, it’s single-team elimination until there’s a winner. Betting Picks For World Wheelchair Curling Championship
We’re going to be offering two different picks to win the World Wheelchair Curling Championship. We feel we have to given the sport’s single-elimination style where anything can and will happen. Out of the entire tourney, we think these two countries are the most bet-worthy:
Norway

Anyway, Norway will bring back that gold-medal-winning team for 2025. Jostein Stordahl will be skip. Stordahl’s playing experience dates back to 1996, long before this event ever existed. Another veteran on the team is Ole Syversen. Both Stordahl and Syversen were on Norway’s 2018 team that won silver at the Paralympic Games in PyeongChang. The team also features a decorated champion in Geir Arne Skogstad, who has taken gold at the World Wheelchair Championship in 2007, 2008, and 2024.
This experience — both in the past and recent times — makes Norway an obvious bet here. Seriously, don’t overthink this one.
Canada
Is it ever a bad idea to bet Canada in any curling event, whether it’s wheelchair or not? No, right? It sounds simplistic but it’s one of the reasons why we feel confident about backing Canada here.
Beyond the reputation, Canada’s team is just flat-out good. Led by skip Mark Ideson, Canada has a decorated winner in their own right. Ideaon has four World Championship medals, including one last year in Gangneung. Joining him is Ina Forrest, a six-time World Championship medalist and three-time gold winner (2009, 2011, 2013), inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 2016. Jon Thurston completes the lineup as another vital member of this talented squad.
