Who will be on Team USA?
The United States (-240) must whittle down an ultra-talented 41-player pool to a 12-man roster. In addition to the aging superstars who have expressed interest (LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant), Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, Joel Embiid and Jrue Holiday are reportedly set to compete. That leaves just five spots for veteran studs such as Jimmy Butler, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard and Kawhi Leonard and rising stars like Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton.
Who will make the cut? How will head coach Steve Kerr shorten his bench? And will egos and team chemistry derail the USA’s bid for a fifth consecutive gold medal?

Serbia a contender?
Serbia (+400) is in Group C with the USA, South Sudan and a yet-to-be named qualifier. In this tournament format, the top two clubs in each group plus the two best third-placed teams will advance to the knock-outs.
Two-time NBA MVP and reigning NBA champion Nikola Jokic gives the Serbians a fighting chance. They took home the silver medal at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup last summer, falling to the Germans 83-77 in the final. Team USA also lost to Germany in the semifinals and finished without a medal.
Oh Canada!
Canada (+600) clinched a spot in the men’s Olympic basketball tournament for the first time in 23 years. The Canadians took home bronze at the 2023 FIBA World Cup despite playing without Nuggets star Jamal Murray and Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins.
Both should be in Paris to round out a roster that already features 2024 NBA MVP contender Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett and Lu Dort. And don’t forget Dillon Brooks, who scored 39 points in Canada’s 127-118 victory over Team USA in the FIBA bronze medal game last summer.

Longshot
France (+800) won the silver medal at Tokyo 2020 after a hard-fought 87-82 defeat to Team USA in the final. Rudy Gobert is the club’s top player, but almost everyone on the roster plays in the NBA, including Evan Fournier, Nicolas Batum, and Frank Ntilikina.
Best Bet
In all likelihood, Team USA will take home their fifth gold medal in a row. But if anyone plays spoiler, it will be the Canadians. While they certainly have no history of success on the international stage, Canada (+600) is the only team with the raw star power to compete with the Americans .
