The MLB season is beginning to enter the serious section of the campaign and two of the top teams in the National League West will go head-to-head in the second of a three-game series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently one of the top teams in the entire MLB with their 52-34 record to date, while the Arizona Diamondbacks sit third in the NLW with a 42-44 record.

Arizona Diamondbacks season so far
Arizona started their season in good form with a win in each of their first two games, but they went on a bit of a horror run after that as they lost seven of their next nine games including three-in-a-row against the Atlanta Braves.
They bounced back with a run of four wins in five before a mixed end to April as they ended the month with a record of 14-17.
May wasn’t much better as they lost their first three games of the month to the Dodgers and San Diego Padres, before finding form and going on a four-game winning streak with three victories in a row against the Cincinnati Reds. Following that they never won or lost three games in a row for the rest of the month until May 26 as they lost five in a row to end the month with an overall record of 25-32.
As the team hit June however they improved greatly and they opened the month with four wins in a row and five wins in their opening six games. The Padres caused them problems again and beat them twice before the Diamondbacks put together another excellent run of eight wins in their next 11 games.
Arizona then lost five of their final eight games of the month and having gone 1-1 in July so far, the team sit with a record of 42-44 with three wins in their last four heading into this game.

Los Angeles Dodgers season so far
The Dodgers have been in fantastic form all season and opened their campaign with seven wins in their first nine games, including three wins over the St Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants. Two defeats in three games to the Chicago Cubs followed, before two successive wins over the Minnesota Twins.
They then went on to lose seven of their next nine games, however, which led to a change in their approach and they’ve since reaped the rewards. They finished May with seven wins in nine games, to end the month with a record of 19-13.
Los Angeles followed that up with a stunning run of seven consecutive wins to open May, defeating the Braves and Miami Marlins three consecutive times each. The Padres stopped their run with two wins in their three-game run, before they returned to a run of six wins in eight games. Five defeats in a row followed, including back-to-back losses to the Diamondbacks before three wins in a row saw them end May with an overall record of 36-23.
June was equally as good for them as they went 16-10 as Arizona put together several three-game winning runs, before five wins in their final seven games of the month. Having gone 1-1 in July so far, they enter this game with an overall record of 53-34.
MLB Picks: Los Angeles Dodgers to win
It won’t be easy, it never is, but the Los Angeles Dodgers should have enough to get the win in this game in front of their home crowd.
In nine games as the favorite over the last 10 matchups, the Dodgers have a record of 6-3 which stands them in good stead here, while The Dodgers have entered the game as favorites 81 times this season and won 51 (63%) of those games.
Los Angeles has entered 72 games this season favored by -135 or more and is 45-27 in those contests, making the -123 price even better for them in this match up against a team who has struggled on the road this season.
The Dodgers have scored 440 runs this season, which ranks third in MLB, while the Arizona Diamondbacks have managed 391 to rank them in joint eighth position in the same metric.
Despite Arizona getting the win in their most recent match up in LA, the home crowd is likely to get the team over the line on 4th July and at a best price of -123 there is tremendous value in getting one of the top performing MLB sides this season to get another win on their record.
