Oddsmakers forecast that the Los Angeles Dodgers will successfully defend their World Series title in 2025.
The Dodgers secured their first championship since 2020 by defeating the New York Yankees 4-1 in the 2024 World Series. Freddie Freeman earned the World Series MVP award for his remarkable performance.
Freeman’s achievements in the series were extraordinary; he hit the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history during Game 1 and made history in Game 4 by becoming the first player to hit home runs in each of the first four games of the Fall Classic.
Let’s examine if any other team can prevent the Dodgers from repeating as champions.

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers are in a prime position to repeat as champions, particularly with their plans to strengthen their starting rotation and retain key pitchers like Tyler Glasnow, Tony Gonsolin, and Gavin Stone.
They will also maintain their lineup full of star hitters, and there’s significant excitement surrounding Shohei Ohtani’s anticipated return to the mound in 2025 after he missed the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery.
Opposing teams will encounter an even tougher challenge with a fully healthy Ohtani strengthening the rotation. Given these factors, the Dodgers are poised to be an even more formidable contender next season, which is a daunting prospect for their competitors.

While the Dodgers are the favorites, +375 odds present a solid opportunity to bet on them winning the World Series. Their pitching is set to improve, and their offense will continue to rank among the best in baseball.
+375 odds is tremendous value and a bet I would make as this Dodgers team looks like they’ve just started winning titles.
Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves made it to the playoffs despite being without several key players, including Spencer Strider, Ronald Acuna Jr., Austin Riley, and Ozzie Albies, for a significant portion of the year.
They also faced the challenge of Chris Sale being absent during the postseason, which impacted their rotation.
Although last season marked a low point for the Braves, they still won 89 games. We’ve seen their potential first-hand, particularly with their World Series triumph in 2021.

Looking ahead to 2025, I’m optimistic about the Braves making a strong comeback. They should be among the league’s elite teams if they can maintain their players’ health.
I would consider betting on the Braves to win the World Series at +800 odds. With some luck on the injury front, that could be a savvy bet.
New York Yankees
Reaching the World Series for the first time in 15 years is a remarkable achievement for the Yankees, especially considering the intense pressure they experienced this season.
The decision to acquire Juan Soto, who is in the final year of his contract, underscores their ambitious ambitions. However, being the Yankees, their primary objective goes beyond merely reaching the World Series; they strive for the championship.
Keeping Soto on the team must be the foremost goal, yet their recent matchups with the Dodgers revealed the necessity for better depth, versatility, and athleticism throughout the roster.
In their World Series loss to the Dodgers, the Yankees demonstrated some of their weakest play.
They’ve squandered this chance and there’s skepticism about their ability to return to the World Series shortly. Given these circumstances, I would avoid placing bets on them to win the World Series at +750 odds.
Philadelphia Phillies
A year after the Phillies’ unexpected journey to the World Series, they returned to Citizens Bank Park leading 3-2 against the Diamondbacks, just one win away from another shot at the Fall Classic.
They ended up losing the next two games. Opportunities like that are rare, and this team let a golden chance slip away.
This past season offered a chance at redemption, but despite an impressive run that secured a division title, they fell short against the emerging Mets in a brief series.
By 2025, it will have been three years since the Phillies last appeared in the World Series, and their key players will be a year older: Bryce Harper will be 33, J.T. Realmuto 34, Zack Wheeler 35, and even Aaron Nola, Kyle Schwarber, and Trea Turner will be 32.
That adds up to a lot of seasoned veterans. Each of their recent postseason runs has felt like a final push, a last ascent for these experienced players.
Even at 11-1 odds I would have to pass on betting the Phillies to win the World Series.
San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres have fallen short of their goal in three straight seasons. In 2022, they managed to defeat the Dodgers in the NLDS, only to succumb to the Phillies in the NLCS.
Despite a star-studded lineup in 2023, the team faced disappointing outcomes, particularly in tight matchups.
Last season, they were one of the best teams in the league but ultimately lost to the Dodgers in the NLDS after taking a 2-1 series lead.
As crucial players age and injuries impact their performance, the pressure to clinch the franchise’s first championship grows, especially with uncertainties about future payroll stability.

It seems the Padres may have let their best chance at a championship slip away, especially after having the Dodgers in a vulnerable position before collapsing.
I would not bet on the Padres to outshine a stronger Dodgers team next season or to win the World Series at +1400 odds.
