The 2024 MotoGP season returned from its summer break last week for the British Grand Prix. Enea Bastianini, who entered the event without a win in 2024, had +1200 betting odds to win the event, picked up his first victory of the year, beating this season’s top riders, Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia. Bastianini’s victory ended a four-race winning streak for the defending two-time MotoGP champion, Bagnaia. The MotoGP riders are in Austria this weekend for the 2024 MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix.
The Red Bull Ring is a 4.35 km long course with eight right corners and three left corners. The course’s longest straight is 810 meters. Marco Bezzecchi has the all-time lap record on the course at 1:28:533 in 2023. The best race lap belongs to Bagnaia in 2023 at 1:29:840. Bagnaia also holds the best pole time at 1:28:539, also set in 2023. The top speed record on the Red Bull Ring is 315.7 km/hr, which is held by Bastianini. He hit that mark in 2023. Bagnaia has won the Austrian GP in the past two years.

Francesco Bagnaia
After a somewhat slow start in the early weeks of the 2024 MotoGP season, the 2022 and 2023 MotoGP world champion, Francesco Bagnaia, is dominating and looks like he could be on his way to a third straight MotoGP world championship. The 27-year-old opened the year with a win in Qatar, but then did not finish in Portugal. He then placed fifth in America. After that, Bagnaia went on a roll, winning four straight MotoGP races before placing third in the British GP.
Bagnaia has performed well at the Austrian GP. He has won his past two starts on the course and finished runner-up before that.
Bagnaia’s time in first place in the MotoGP points race was short-lived as he dropped from first to second, once again falling three points behind Jorge Martin after the British GP.
Jorge Martin
With a runner-up finish in the British GP, Jorge Martin is back in the lead of the 2024 MotoGP points standings with 241 points. The finish was a good bounce back for Martin, who was leading the German GP when he crashed near the end of the race. Martin moved past the criticism of his aggressive riding to place second in England.
The 26-year-old Martin, who finished last year as the No. 2 rider at the end of the season, has not had much success in Austria. He has placed third, tenth, and seventh in three starts as a MotoGP rider.
Martin has two wins in 2024, three runner-up finishes, and two third-place finishes. He has not finished two races this season.
Marc Marquez
Heading into the 2024 MotoGP season, the biggest concerns for the legendary Marc Marquez were his health and how he would perform with his new team. After 11 years with Honda, the 30-year-old is now on a Ducati for Gresini Racing. As for his health, Marquez has started all nine MotoGP races in 2024, and outside of not finishing in America, placing 16th in Portugal, and finishing in 10th in the Netherlands, Marquez has been among the top four finishers in his other five starts during the 2024 MotoGP season.
Marquez is still looking for his first win of 2024. The last time Marquez won a MotoGP race was in 2021, when he placed first three times before finishing the year in the No. 7 spot in the standings. He has finished as the runner-up three times this year. He is coming off a fourth-place finish in the British GP.
Marquez has never won a MotoGP race in Austria. He placed second in three straight races in 2017-2019. Last year he placed 12th.
Marquez slipped from third in the 2024 points race to fourth after the British GP.
Best bet to win the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix
Given his performance all year and his past wins on this track, the betting pick is for Francesco Bagnaia to win another Austrian Grand Prix.
