The first two races of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Championship season have been incredibly close. William Byron won the Daytona 500, beating Alex Bowman by 0.006 seconds. Then last week, Daniel Suarez squeezed by Ryan Blaney by 0.003 seconds and Kyle Busch (0.004 seconds) to take the checkered flag at the Ambetter Health 400. This week, the NASCAR Cup Championship moves to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Pennzoil 400.
The 2024 running of the Pennzoil 400 marks the 32nd NASCAR Cup Series race held on the track. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile tri-oval with 20 degrees of banking in the turns and nine degrees of banking on the front and backstretches. Jimmie Johnson holds the record for most NASCAR wins at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Roush Fenway Racing is the winningest team on the track with seven victories.
William Byron won the 2023 Pennzoil 400. Four active NASCAR drivers have multiple victories at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway: Joey Logano (3), Brad Keselowski (3), Kyle Larson (2), and Martin Truex Jr (2). In addition, Byron, Alex Bowman, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Busch have had single wins on the track.

2024 Pennzoil 400 betting picks
Kyle Larson
The winner of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Championship, and runner-up in 2023, Kyle Larson finished the Daytona 500 in 11th place and the Ambetter Health 400 in the 32nd spot. Those results should not dissuade one from looking at Larson as the betting favorite in Las Vegas. The driver of the No. 5 Chevy for Hendrick Motorsports has performed well in Las Vegas, placing second in the 2023 Pennzoil 400 and winning the fall race on this track in 2023.
Larson led 63 laps in Las Vegas last spring and had a race-high 133 laps in the lead in the fall. Larson has been performing well on 1.5-mile tracks as of late, finishing in the top two in all four of his most recent starts on 1.5-mile tracks.
William Byron
William Byron finished the 2023 NASCAR Cup Championship season as the No. 3 driver. This year, he opened the season with a win at the Daytona 500. Last week, Byron placed 17th at the Ambetter Health 400. The driver of the No. 24 Chevy for Hendrick Motorsports, Byron looks for his second victory of the 2024 NASCAR season and his second career win in Las Vegas.
Byron won this race last year after qualifying second to Joey Logano. The 26-year-old won the first and second stages of the race, leading the 2023 Pennzoil 400 for 176 of the 271 laps.
Christopher Bell
Christopher Bell does not have a win at Las Vegas, but the driver of the No. 20 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing placed second at the fall race in Las Vegas in 2023 after placing fifth at the 2023 Pennzoil 500. The 29-year-old Bell, who finished the 2023 NASCAR season in fourth place, has four top-10 finishes in his past four Vegas starts, and he was in the lead for 61 laps in the 2023 fall race.
Bell opened the 2024 season with a third-place finish in Daytona. He placed 34th last week in Atlanta.
Best bets for the 2024 Pennzoil 400
William Byron has started 12 races at Las Vegas. He has led 256 laps over the course of those races, which equates to leading eight percent of the laps he has run on the track. Byron is the No. 7 driver in all-time laps led at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With how he has performed on this track recently, the betting pick is that William Byron will win the 2024 Pennzoil 400.
