Christopher Bell favorite for another win at New Hampshire in USA Today 301

The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series is at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway circuit this weekend for the USA Today 301. Christopher Bell and Martin Truex Jr. lead the betting to win the ‘Magic Mile’ race. But this track is also suited to Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson. There are numerous drivers grouped at the top of the betting leaderboard. And in our latest NASCAR betting picks, we tell you which ones to put your money on.

The Big Picture

The New Hampshire Motor Speedway circuit is an Asphalt and Granite Oval track, just over one mile long. Banking on the turns is 2% to 7%, and 1% on the straights. It is a typical Cup Series track, and as a result, six drivers are all trading at below +1000 to win the race.

As we’ll cover in more detail later, Martin Truex Jr. and Christopher Bell lead the betting. Also in the mix is the winner from last Sunday’s race at Iowa Speedway, Ryan Blaney, who won his first race of the season at the Iowa Corn 350.

The victory solidified Blaney’s place in the Cup Series Playoffs, and was a dominant display, with the 2023 Cup Series champion leading the inaugural race for 201 of the 350 laps.

Betting to win the 2024 USA Today 301

The two most recent winners of this race were Martin Truex Jr. in 2023 and Christopher Bell in 2022. These results explain the logic behind the betting odds. This will be the second successive week that Bell has led the betting. He was also the +375 favorite to win last Sunday’s Iowa Corn 350.

Martin Truex Jr. and Christopher Bell are the joint favorites to win the race at +450. Behind the co-favorites is Denny Hamlin at +500, Ryan Blaney at +650, Kyle Larson at +700, and Joey Logano at +800.

The most recent races in 2024 have been won by Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson. Their form puts them among the favorites for another win this weekend. Denny Hamlin won at New Hampshire in 2017, and Joey Logano – still seeking his first win of the season – has a car that suits this circuit.

Betting to win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series

We have a new leader at the top of the points table.

After finishing third at Iowa, Chase Elliott sits atop the table with 591 points. Elliott is eight clear of his Hendrick teammate Kyle Larson, who has 583.

Denny Hamlin is third on 553 points, with William Byron moving up two places to fourth following his second-place finish at Iowa. Like Elliott, Byron has been quietly going about his business in recent weeks while others have taken all the attention. Byron now has 537 points, putting him 54 behind Elliott.

In the betting, the changes to the points table don’t seem to have made any difference to the leading contenders. Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson are still the +400 joint favorites to win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series. And they are still followed by William Byron at +500.

One betting move sees Christopher Bell shortened from +750 to +650 after his fourth place at Iowa.

Also shortening in the betting after last weekend’s race is Ryan Blaney. The 2023 Cup Series winner has been cut to +900. He was +1200 ahead of Sunday’s win.

Elsewhere, Chase Elliott is still +1000. But Martin Truex Jr. has further lengthened. Still looking for his first win of the season, Truex Jr. is now out to +1400, the same odds as Tyler Reddick.

2024 USA Today 301 Betting Picks and Predictions

Our first pick is Bubba Wallace. The selection of Wallace is based purely on statistics. The 23XI driver has a 5.5 average finishing position at New Hampshire in the Next Gen cars.

Okay, that’s only two races. But on further inspection of the statistics, Wallace has the sixth-best overall running position, showing that not only does his Next Gen car suit this circuit, but the driver himself has also taken a liking to it.

Wallace is +220 for a top-ten finish, +650 for a top-five finish, +1400 for the top three, and +4000 to win the race. All look worth a wager of some proportion.

For our pick, we are going for Bubba Wallace to finish in the top five at +650.

For our race winner pick, we do like the look of Christopher Bell. Is he a touch too short at +450? Maybe. But he did finish fourth last week and he has a great track record at this circuit.

We don’t like going with a favorite at +450, but Bell won here in 2022 when the race was called the Ambetter 301. Bell has also won here three times in the XFINITY Series. The best betting sites make him a favorite for a reason. And like with our Wallace pick, it’s because of the statistics.

We make Christopher Bell our betting pick to win the 2024 USA Today 301.
