— NASCAR (@NASCAR) September 4, 2024
After the first three races (Round of 16 consisting of the Quaker State 400, Go Bowling at the Glen, and the Bass Pro Shops Night Race) are complete, four of the 16 drivers will be cut, leaving just 12.
Any driver who wins one of the three races will progress to the next round. The remainder of the places will be based on who has the highest points totals.
The Round of 12 is next. Another three races, the Hollywood Casino 400, Yellawood 500, and the Bank of America Roval 400. Once the three races are complete, another four drivers are cut from the competition, leaving just eight.
Again, the winner of any race will automatically qualify for the next stage.
In the Round of 8, there are another three races. They are the South Point 400, the Straight Talk Wireless 400, and the Xfinity 500. Four drivers are cut after this round, while any driver who wins one of these races qualifies for the Championship race.
Finally, the Championship race will take place on Sunday, November 10th. Only four drivers can qualify for this. The four will include any driver who wins one of the Round of 8 races, with the remainder of the places made up of the highest points scorers.
2024 NASCAR Cup Series Winner Picks
Six former champions remain in the 16-driver field attempting to win the 2024 Championship.
They are Brad Keselowski (2012), Martin Truex Jr. (2017), Joey Logano (2018 and 2022), Kyle Larson (2021), Chase Elliott (2022), and Ryan Blaney (2023).
The most successful driver of the six is Joey Logano with two titles. Can he make it three this year? We don’t think he can, and the main reason for this is Kyle Larson.
Kyle Larson +350
Kyle Larson has had an outstanding regular season. He only missed out on the regular-season title by one point, and that was in the main down to an exceptional finish to the campaign by Tyler Reddick.
And despite missing out on the title, Larson was the points leader for the majority of the season.
Larson is regarded as the most talented driver on the roster, and after his four regular-season wins, he starts the playoffs with a lead in the updated points table.
He entered the 2021 playoffs in similar form, with the rest of the roster regarding him as the man to beat, and history looks to be repeating itself in 2024.
Denny Hamlin will be a threat. If anybody is to stop Larson, we say it will be the JGR driver. Hamlin won three races this season, the same as William Byron and Christopher Bell. Only Larson has won more.
Furthermore, Larson looks on a different level this season. He already has a head start – even without it, he would be most punters’ pick to win. And he is also ours.
Kyle Larson is our betting pick to win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series championship.
