Iowa State Cyclones
The Iowa State men’s basketball team broke new ground on Monday when they climbed to No.2 in the latest AP Top 25 rankings. The Cyclones moved up one place from No.3 to reach their highest ranking in the program’s history.

Iowa State is unbeaten in the Big 12 with a conference record of 4-0. They are on a winning streak of 11. In their last outing, the Cyclones defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders 85-84 after overtime.
Texas Tech did lead the match 81-77 with just over a minute of overtime remaining. But the Cyclones showed their true champion quality by keeping their cool to clinch a one-point win on Saturday.
The win saw the Cyclones go top of the Big 12. But they have since been replaced in the top spot by Arizona who are now 5-0 after an 81-70 win over Baylor on Tuesday.
Iowa State’s only loss this season was a two-point defeat to the No.1 team in the country, Auburn. The setback came in November at the Maui tournament in Hawaii.
Despite their sensational form this season, the Cyclones aren’t the betting favorite to win the Big 12. At +115, the Houston Cougars lead the betting, with the Cyclones second favorite at +140.
The Cyclones are +225 to make it to the Final Four and +1200 fourth-favorite to win the 2025 National Championship match.
After the showdown with the Jayhawks, the Cyclones will travel to Morgantown to face West Virginia on Saturday and then return home to face UCF on Tuesday.
Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas is coming off a 54-40 win at Cincinnati on Saturday. The 40 points they conceded is the fewest since an 89-34 victory over Howard in December 2011.
It was also the second time the Jayhawks had conceded under 50 points in their last three matches, having also defeated UCF 99-48 the previous weekend.
In conference play, Kansas is 3-1. They are also on a winning streak of three.
The Jayhawks moved up two places to No.9 in the latest AP Top 25 Rankings on Monday. In the latest betting to win the Big 12 regular season, Bill Self’s team is +900, the Jayhawks are the joint-fourth favorites with Arizona.
Kansas is +550 to reach the Final Four and joint-eleventh in the betting to win the NCAA Championship match at +2500.
Iowa State Cyclones vs. Kansas Jayhawks Betting Picks
Iowa State is 9-0 at home, with the Kansas Jayhawks 2-2 on the road.
Furthermore, the Cyclones have averaged 13 points per match more than the Jayhawks over their previous ten fixtures.
The stats point to another home win for Iowa State.
A money line wager on the Cyclones is just about possible at -250. But it’s not the best value wager in the world. If you don’t fancy it, we get it.
So, against a tight Kansas defense, will the Cyclones win by enough to cover the 6-point spread?
Albeit against vastly inferior opposition, the Cyclones have been ruthless on their home court.
And while the Jayhawks have been good at stifling the opposition in recent weeks, we have to question if they will have the attacking mentality needed to score enough points to defeat an in-form Iowa State.
We expect a tight match with a win for the Cyclones. The 6-point spread could be a 50/50 call, but we can see more reasons to go with the Cyclones to cover than we can for the Jayhawks.
