Like their hosts, the Purdue Boilermakers also have a 7-1 overall record this season.
The Boilermakers are on a winning streak of three and will approach their first Big Ten Conference match in good form and confident of the win.

Penn State
The Nittany Lions finished the 2023/24 regular season in T9 with a 9-11 conference record and a 16-17 overall record. Their season ended in the 2nd Round of the Big Ten Tournament with a 61-59 defeat to Indiana.
The current campaign is going well. Head coach Mike Rhoades is now in his second season at the Bryce Jordan Center, and he started the season with six successive wins.
The wins were to be expected. They came against Binghamton (108-66), UMBC (103-54), St Francis PA (92-62), Virginia Tech (86-64), Fort Wayne (102-89), and Fordham (85-66).
Their sole defeat was a 75-67 reversal against the Clemson Tigers in the Sunshine Slam Beach Division final.
Penn State bounced back from that loss with a routine home-court win over Buffalo at the weekend, giving them a 7-1 record to start the conference season.
In the latest betting to win the Big Ten regular season, Penn State is one of the outsiders at +5000.

Purdue
The Purdue Boilermakers made it to the final of the 2024 Tournament, losing the final by 15 points to the UConn Huskies.
Since that defeat, head coach Matt Painter has lost the services of Zach Edey, who was picked up in the 2024 NBA Draft, and now pounds the boards for the Memphis Grizzlies.
The loss has been felt. And it was also reflected in the Boilermakers’ odds to go one better and win the 2025 Championship match.
The season started well enough for Painter’s Edey-less team. Purdue recorded four impressive wins against Texas A&M-CC (90-73), Northern Kentucky (72-50), Yale (92-84), and Alabama (87-78).
A loss against the Marquette Golden Eagles followed, and it was a big loss. The Boilermakers went down 76-58, with Marquette overpowering them in the second period, outscoring Purdue by 11 points.
That loss was a huge setback.
Since the defeat, Painter has led his team to victories over Marshall (80-45), NC State (71-61), and Ole Miss (80-78).
The Boilermakers are the +330 betting favorites to win the Big Ten. Their closest betting rivals are UCLA (+550), Michigan (+600), Michigan State (+650), and Illinois (+700).

There has been a significant improvement in the Nittany Lions this season. Adrian Baldwin Jr. has been one of the shining lights. The 23-year-old Guard has been in good form scoring 14.9 points per game with 3.1 rebounds and 8.4 assists.
Will an on-song Baldwin Jr. be able to lead the Nittany Lions to a win over Purdue? That is another question altogether.
Despite losing Edey’s services, Purdue has coped well this season. So, we are opposing the bookmakers here and siding with the visitors. It should be close, but we see the Boilermakers edging the match.
The Boilermakers are -110 with a 1.5-point start on the spread and +110 on the money line. It’s a close call and we can understand choosing either bet.
But with only two points needed to cover, we don’t see the point in going down the spread route and are backing Purdue to win on the money line for our pick.
