UConn is having a simply sensational season with an overall record of 33-3. They ran away with the Big East, topping the conference table with an 18-2 record. Their closest rivals were Marquette and Creighton, both with respectable 14-6 records.
So far in the NCAA Tournament, the Huskies haven’t been challenged. UConn defeated Stetson 91-52 in their opening match, covering the 26.5-point start given to the Hatters. Things weren’t much different in the second round, with the Huskies defeating the Northwestern Wildcats 75-58.

San Diego finished fifth in the Mountain West with an 11-7 conference record. Overall this season, the Aztecs are 26-10.
In Round One of the NCAA Tournament, the No.5 seed Aztecs defeated the No.12 UAB Blazers 69-65. In Round Two, they defeated No.13 Yale 85-57, in what was a far more convincing performance than the win over the Blazers.
The Aztecs will need to improve greatly against the defending champions if their tournament isn’t to end at the Sweet Sixteen stage.
UConn vs. San Diego: Our Picks
Starting with the total points line, we are looking at overs with the line set at a low-looking 136.
In the 2023/24 season, games involving UConn have topped 136 points on 24 occasions. For the Aztecs, it’s 20 times. The two schools’ combined match average is 156.3 points. Of the four matches the two schools have played at this year’s NCAA Tournament, over 136 have been covered twice.
We are happy to go with over 136 points for our betting pick. It looks low, and at the very least, it should be a close call.
For our match-winner pick, we are going with the Huskies to extend their season record to 34-3. The Huskies are too short to be backed on the money line at odds of -600. But, so far in the end-of-season tournament, they have won both their matches with plenty to spare.
Can the Huskies cover a 10.5-point spread? Oh course they can. The Huskies to win and cover the spread is our betting pick.
