Alabama betting breakdown

Alabama heads into Saturday’s game against LSU following a 34-0 win over Missouri. The Crimson Tide has been off two weeks since that victory. The rest should help Alabama work on some of its issues, which mainly come on the defensive side of the ball. With that being said, the team’s D played well against Missouri, which should give the coaching staff and defense some confidence heading into Saturday’s game. One area Alabama has excelled is creating turnovers, they have three or more takeaways in each of the past three games.

Alabama does not win when the offense can’t pick up 100 yards on the ground. They earned 75 ground yards against Tennessee and 84 against Vanderbilt. The Crimson Tide rushing game was on point against Missouri, where they averaged 7.3 yards per carry and totaled 271 yards.

The Alabama defense has struggled with the run against SEC opposition, giving up an average of 151 yards per conference game. They need to be ready for LSU running back Caden Durham.

LSU betting breakdown

The LSU Tigers, who also enter this game following two weeks off, need junior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier to be better. He has thrown seven interceptions vs. seven touchdowns in the team’s past four games. Nussmeier is especially important since LSU does not have much of a rushing game. The team’s rushing offense is last in the SEC at 115.3 yards per game. In their most recent outing, the LSU offense was held to 24 yards rushing on 23 attempts by Texas A&M. The offense also took a hit last week when left guard Garrett Dellinger underwent surgery for an ankle injury.

As for the team’s rushing hopes, they rely on Caden Durham, who leads the team with 397 yards on 73 carries. He has two games where he picked up over 100 yards, but Durham was limited against Texas A&M, gaining 15 yards on 11 carries.

LSU needs to limit turnovers. They gave up the ball three times in their loss to Texas A&M, and have had multiple turnovers in four of their past six games.

The LSU rushing defense allows an average of 130.8 yards per game.
