Two of the top teams in the Big Ten meet in a Week 13 NCAA matchup when the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers take to the road to face the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus. Both teams are ranked inside the top five in the College Football Playoff rankings, with Indiana at No. 5 and Ohio State at No. 2. This game could be the most important regular season game of all time for the Hoosiers as a win on Saturday could put them in the Big Ten Championship game against the Oregon Ducks. Here is some background on the teams before we look at the Week 13 NCAAF betting breakdown.
Indiana (10-0, 7-0) is 10-0 for the first time in history heading into Week 13. This is the first year the team has been under head coach Curt Cignetti, who signed on in November 2023 to replace Tom Allen. The Hoosiers are coming off a bye week. In Week 11 they defeated Michigan 20-15.
Ohio State (9-1, 6-1) are also looking for a spot in the Big Ten Championship game, but their October loss to the Ducks is a red mark on their record. They lost that game 32-31. The Buckeyes are coming off a Week 12 win over Northwestern (31-7).

Indiana Hoosiers betting breakdown
While the Indiana Hoosiers have played excellently in 2024, this weekend’s game against Ohio State is the toughest game on the team’s schedule. Indiana has faced a defense one could compare to Ohio State in Michigan, but they have yet to face a foe with the offensive firepower of the Buckeyes. What Indiana needs to do in order to succeed against Ohio State is establish their passing game early and stick with it. If the Hoosiers can stretch the field consistently against Ohio State, they have a chance of pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the 2024 college football season. Look for quarterback Kurtis Rourke to target wide receiver Elijah Sarratt, who is averaging 18 yards per reception this year with a total of 685 yards, which puts him in the top 10 in the conference.
What could hurt Indiana is the team’s running defense. The Hoosiers must shut down the running offense of the Buckeyes, something most teams have struggled to do this year.
Expect the bye week to help Indiana to prepare for this game, but they have a slim margin for error because of the depth of the Ohio State roster. A small mistake could be a disaster for Indiana in this contest.
Ohio State Buckeyes betting breakdown
The Ohio State Buckeyes are the more talented team heading into their Week 13 matchup against the Indiana Hoosiers, but that doesn’t mean they should, or will, be content to trust that their skills will be enough to get the win on Saturday. I think Ohio State will rely on the style of play that has earned them their 9-1 record in the first half of play and then make adjustments if needed at halftime.
Expect Ohio State to look to establish their running game early. The Buckeyes have two of the top 11 rushers in the Big Ten in Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson. Henderson leads the conference in yards per carry at 7.4, while Judkins ranks fourth in the Big Ten in that stat with an average of 6.0 yards per attempt. If Ohio State can get those two players in a groove against an Indiana defense that has done well against the rush in 2024, allowing an average of just 72.2 yards per game on the ground. With that being said, Ohio’s rushing yards per game on offense is third best in the conference at 183.8 yards per game.
Ohio State will also need to test the Indiana secondary, which hasn’t seen a passing attack as strong or deep as the Ohio State offense as Jeremiah Smith is No. 2 in receiving yardage in the conference with 865 yards, averaging a respectable 17.7 yards per reception. Ohio State’s quarterback Will Howard is averaging 72.9 percent in completions, which is second in the Big Ten. Howard leads the conference with 24 touchdowns.
Best bets: Indiana vs. Ohio State
Indiana should be able to be competitive for the length of this game, but Ohio State is just too deep and too strong for Indiana to pull off the upset.
The betting pick is for Ohio State to beat Indiana in Week 13
As for the scoring of this game, these two clubs are No. 1 and No. 2 in offensive scoring in the Big Ten. Indiana averages 43.9 points per game, while Ohio State picks up 37.8 points per game.
The betting pick is for the teams to combine for less than 52 points.
