Two of the top teams in the country face off on Saturday at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, when the Ohio State Buckeyes face the Oregon Ducks in a battle of unbeaten Big Ten squads. Both clubs bring a 5-0 overall record into the matchup while sporting 2-0 conference records. This game is the first time the teams have played as Big Ten rivals. Ohio State betting breakdown

Ohio State has one of the better offenses in college football this year. The team is fourth in points per game (46.0), ninth in yards per game (510.2), 23rd in passing yards per game (288.0), and 14th in rushing yards per game (222.2) in the FBS. As for the team’s offensive line, they rank first in pressure rate allowed. This game against Oregon’s potent defensive line will be the biggest test of the NCAA football season for the Buckeyes.

This weekend’s game will be a big test for quarterback Will Howard, who has yet to face a defense as good as Oregon’s this year. Howard has a completion percentage of 71.5, 1,248 passing yards, averages 249.6 passing yards per game, 12 passing touchdowns, and three interceptions. He has thrown an interception in each of his past three games. Howard has added 64 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns to his stat line.

One thing to consider about Ohio State is that the team’s relatively soft schedule to start this season has allowed them to leave something off the field when it comes to play calling and overall effort. So, the question is, what haven’t we seen from Ohio State on offense?

Quinshon Judkins leads the team in rushing yards with 468, while Jeremiah Smith has the most receiving yards with 453.

Oregon betting breakdown

Oregon will count on their defensive line to pressure the Ohio State offense. The Ducks’ defense ranks 21st in points allowed per game (17), 10th in total yards per game (263.4), 18th in pass yards per game (162.0), 24th in rushing yards per game (101.4), and 16th in sacks (16.0). The Oregon defense also has home-field advantage on Saturday, which counts for something, at least psychologically. The Oregon defense can also give the Buckeyes offense looks it has not seen this season.

Much like Ohio State not having faced a defense as strong as Oregon’s, the Ducks have not faced an offense as potent as what the Buckeyes will bring to Autzen Stadium on Saturday. The expectation is that Oregon will put a lot of pressure on Howard and force him to pass under pressure, which is something he hasn’t had to deal with this year. That pressure, coupled with Oregon’s zone defense, could force Ohio State to rely on its run more than it has in previous games.

Oregon needs its defense to come through in this matchup. The team’s offense ranks 32nd in points per game (35.0), 25th in total yards per game (458.6), 19th in passing yards per game (294.2), 64th in rushing yards per game (164.4), and 40th in sacks allowed with seven.

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel has a 77.8 percent completion rate for 1,449 yards this season. He has 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. Jordan James leads the team in rushing yards with 552, and Tez Johnson is the leading receiver with 395 yards. Bryce Boettcher has 32 tackles to lead the squad.
