On Saturday, November 2, the Kentucky Wildcats travel to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 10 SEC action. Kentucky brings an overall record of 3-5 into the game. The Wildcats are 1-5 in the conference. Meanwhile, Tennessee is the No. 7 team in the most recent AP Poll. The Volunteers sport an overall mark of 6-1 and a SEC record of 3-1. These teams have met 119 times. Tennessee leads the rivalry with a record of 82-26-9. The Volunteers have won the last three meetings between the teams, most recently beating the Wildcats 33-27 in their 2023 game in Lexington. Kentucky’s most recent victory came on the road in 2020 when they beat Tennessee 34-7.
Tennessee opened 2024 with four straight wins. They tasted defeat in early October with a 19-14 setback to Arkansas. Since then, the Volunteers are 2-0 with close wins over Florida (23-17 OT) and Alabama (24-17).
Kentucky went 3-2 to open the year. The team has not won a game since they defeated Ole Miss in late September. The Wildcats enter Week 10 of the NCAA football season with three straight losses, most recently falling to Auburn 24-10.

Kentucky betting breakdown
The Kentucky Wildcats are in dire straits. The team has not missed a bowl season since 2015. With a 3-5 record heading into Week 10, Kentucky’s chances of extending that streak seem slim, especially looking at the team they face this weekend in a road game, the Tennessee Volunteers.
The big question facing the Wildcats this week is who will start at quarterback. Junior Brock Vandagriff has started every game this season, but fellow junior Gavin Wimsatt got a lot of action in the Auburn game, playing the entire second half of the contest. Vandagriff completed nine of his 17 passing attempts for 120 yards. He had no touchdowns and one interception. Wimsatt finished the game with 34 yards and a 30 percent completion rate. He Vandagriff has six touchdown passes and five interceptions on the season.
The Kentucky offense has been anemic against SEC competition this year, scoring seven offensive touchdowns in six SEC games.
The Wildcat defense is also struggling. Last week, they allowed Auburn to put up 498 yards of offense (172 passing, 326 rushing).
Kentucky needs to end their losing skid if they want to play in a bowl game this year, and the way things are going, that does not seem likely.
Tennessee betting breakdown
Tennessee Quarterback Nico Iamaleava has not had a 200-yard passing game against an SEC opponent this year. He’s come close, putting up 194 yards in wins against Oklahoma and Alabama, but he’s been unable to crack the 200 yard threshold. The Volunteers are coming off a bye week, so there’s a chance the coaching staff has implemented some tweaks to the playbook that will lead to the freshman having a breakthrough performance against a struggling Kentucky team. To hit 200 yards, Iamaleava must rely heavily on his top two receivers in this game, Dont’e Thornton Jr. and Bru McCoy. Thornton has 12 receptions for 365 yards, and McCoy has 20 receptions for 289 yards. Look for Iamaleava to target those two often, and the hope is they can use their skills to put up some yardage after catches..
Tennessee has scored 25 or fewer points in its past four games, and it took them until overtime in Week 7 to break the 20-point threshold. That’s something the Volunteers need to improve on in a big way. The offensive line needs to protect Iamaleava better and give him time and space to make plays. Iamaleava is 108 for 170 this year in passing, with 1,413 yards, eight passing touchdowns, and four interceptions.
With the struggles the Kentucky defense has with the run, look for Dylan Sampson to get his fair of touches in this game. The junior running back is coming off a season-high 139 yards in rushing yardage against Alabama. Sampson has an SEC-leading 17 rushing touchdowns. Sampson is second in the conference in rushing yards with 838. His 144 rushing attempts also lead the SEC.
Best bets: Kentucky vs. Tennessee
Kentucky is struggling in a big way heading into Week 10. A matchup with Tennessee will not solve the team’s problems.
The betting pick is Tennessee to beat Kentucky.
With little betting value in picking Tennessee to win, the better value might be in considering the over/under for this contest.
