Will any records be broken at 2025 NFL Scouting Combine?

  • Xavier Worthy ran the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds last year to break the all-time combine record
  • Quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs will all take the field on Saturday
  • The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 27 to March 2, 2025

With the 2025 NFL Draft two months away, more than 300 players will try to boost their stock in Indianapolis this week. Starting on Thursday, top prospects at all the different positions will take part in drills such as the 40-yard dash, three-cone drill, 20-yard shuttle run, 60-yard shuttle run, vertical jump, broad jump and bench press.

While college stars such as quarterback Shedeur Sanders, defensive end Abdul Carter and running back Ashton Jeanty are skipping the on-field events, there will still be plenty of talent at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine.

Will anyone top 4.21 secs?

Xavier Worthy ran the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds last year, topping John Ross’ all-time mark (4.22) from 2017. Oddsmakers are offering +600 on anyone breaking the combine record. If any player tops 4.21 seconds, it will either happen on Friday, when the defensive backs hit the field, or Saturday when the wide receivers and running backs work out. Of the 12 best 40 times in combine history, six belong to WRs, four belong to CBs and two from RBs.

Never mind 4.21. Oddsmakers believe this year’s prospects will all run slower than 4.27 seconds (-240). If you’re wagering on someone running faster than 4.27 (+165), Arian Smith is probably your best bet. The Georgia wide receiver ran the 100M dash in 10.10 seconds to qualify for the SEC Championships. That mark tops Worthy’s best times in the same event. There’s also Iowa State cornerback Darien Porter, who clocked in at an incredible 22.17 MPH at the Senior Bowl,

Strongest men in Indy

Stephen Paea holds the bench press record with 49 reps of 225 lbs. The Oregon State defensive tackle’s record has stood since way back in 2011. You can get +650 odds on someone exceeding 49 reps, but good luck. No other player in the history of the combine has even went over 45 reps. Furthermore, the top bench-press performances in scouting combine history all occurred before 2014.

In fact, less than 40 reps is a -135 favorite with more than 40 at almost even odds (-105). Last year, Arkansas center Beau Limmer put up 39 reps, which was five more than the next closest competitor.

NFL Scouting Combine – Vertical Jump

Under 46 inches-500-500-500

Serious hops on display

The vertical jump shows off a player’s lower body strength, leg strength and explosiveness. Gerald Sensabaugh recorded a 46-inch vertical jump in 2005, breaking the record by half an inch. Anyone topping 46 inches is available at +300 – we wouldn’t touch that price.

Over 43.5 inches is a -145 favorite with under 43.5 at +105. In 2024, four players tied for the highest vertical jump at 42.5 inches – but they all jumped a full inch shorter than the listed over/under for this year’s combine.

Best bets

There has been a serious power outage at the bench press competition in recent years, so we’ll take less than 40 reps (-135). We also like under 43.5 inches (+105) in the vertical jump, and faster than 4.27 seconds (+165) in the 40-yard dash as speeds seem to be increasing of late on the fast turf in Lucas Oil Stadium.
