Arizona and Seattle will square off for the second time in three weeks. The Seahawks downed the Cardinals 16-6 in a low-scoring Week 12 affair and now hold a one-game edge in the NFC West. It’s now up to Kyler Murray’s squad to put an end to their two-game losing skid and hold serve in the division with a home win on Sunday.

Seattle tops in NFC West
Geno Smith didn’t have the fanciest stat line (206 passing yards, TD) in Sunday’s 26-21 win over New York, but he made some huge throws to come back from a 14-point deficit against the team who drafted him. The play of the game came courtesy of another former Jet, however. Big defensive tackle Leonard Williams intercepted Aaron Rodgers in the Seahawks’ red zone and returned it 92 yards for a score.
Seattle has won three-straight games coming out of its bye and holds a one-game lead over the Cardinals and Rams in the NFC West. With a tough schedule on tap (@Arizona, Green Bay, Minnesota, @Chicago, @LARams), Mike McDonald’s club likely needs a victory this Sunday to win the division.

Cardinals flail in red zone
Arizona finished 1 of 6 in the red zone in Sunday’s 23-22 loss to Minnesota. Kyler Murray tossed two interceptions (one of which was real ugly) and head coach Jonathan Gannon decided to kick a field goal to go up six points rather than go for it on fourth-and-goal from the Vikings’ 4-yard-line. Sam Darnold promptly led his team down the field, scoring the go-ahead TD with just over a minute left on the clock.
The Cardinals defense was excellent in the loss, registering five sacks and generating a season-high 53.8% pressure rate. They also collected five sacks and picked off Geno Smith once in their Week 12 defeat to Seattle.
Arizona vs Seattle
Arizona is a 2.5-point home favorite at State Farm Stadium with the over/under set at 45 points. That’s 23 more points than the NFC West rivals combined for in Week 12, but nothing is for certain in divisional games. The Cardinals have the NFL’s sixth-best rushing attack (141.4 YPG) while the Seahawks have the fifth-worst (88.7). However, Seattle is #2 in passing yards per game (250.3) while Arizona is #20 (205.9).
Both teams are just outside the top ten in scoring defense. Mike McDonald’s D has been much improved versus the run since coming out of their Week 10 bye. They held the Cards to 49 yards on 14 carries two weeks ago before limiting the Jets to 89 yards on 21 carries.
