2024 AFC Division Futures favor Chiefs to win ninth-straight division title

  • Buffalo, Baltimore, Houston and Kansas City are favored to win their respective AFC divisions
  • C.J. Stroud and the Texans (+100) aim to repeat in the AFC South after adding star wideout Stefon Diggs
  • The 2024 NFL season kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 5 with the Super Bowl champion Chiefs hosting the Ravens

Change and turnover are the only constants in the NFL. Only half of the eight division winners in 2022 repeated in 2023 and there were six new playoff teams. There were also four new division champions from 2021 to 2022 with seven new clubs (half the field) making the postseason.

What surprises are in store this season? Starting with the AFC East, we’ll examine the odds and make our picks in all four divisions. Here’s also where you can find the best Super Bowl betting tips and the top betting sites for NFL football in 2024.

Dolphins to win stacked division

Buffalo (+160), New York (+170) and Miami (+220) are all potential AFC East winners while New England (+2500) will be in contention for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Josh Allen will lead an offense without Stefon Diggs and Sean McDermott will call a defense that’s already lost star linebacker Matt Milano. Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson provide excellent weapons for Aaron Rodgers, but his age (40) and Gang Green’s coaching staff (Robert Saleh and OC Nathaniel Hackett) make New York tough to trust.

With play-calling wiz Mike McDaniel calling the shots for Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins offense is the most bankable unit in the AFC East. Take Miami at +220.

KC still owns the division

While Kansas City (-275) is heavy chalk to capture its ninth-consecutive division title, we still like those odds. With rookie Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown added to a pass-catching corps that already included Travis Kelce and sophomore Rashee Rice, Patrick Mahomes is primed for another 40 or 50 TD campaign.

There’s no doubt Los Angeles (+350) will improve on their 5-12 record from a year ago, but Jim Harbaugh can only do so much to bolster a talent-deprived Chargers squad. You can forget the Raiders. Las Vegas (+1000) is in QB purgatory with Gardnew Minshew and Aidan O’Connell. Denver (+1600) is the best longshot bet of the bunch with Bo Nix looking comfortable in Sean Payton’s offense, but we prefer taking the OVER on their 5.5 win total.

Bengals set to rebound

Baltimore (+140) and Cincinnati (+165) are poised to battle it out in the AFC North. While Derrick Henry’s arrival makes the offense frightening, the Ravens lost several starters on their offensive line and former defensive coordinator Mike McDonald is now in Seattle.

Cleveland (+500) still has all its hopes tied on the ghost of Deshaun Watson and Pittsburgh (+600) has the only QB situation that rivals the Raiders in terms of hopelessness. So, we’ll take the Bengals and pray that Joe Burrow stays healthy and Ja’Marr Chase resolves his contract situation.

Texans to repeat?

For the first time in a long time, the South is the most intriguing division in the AFC. Fresh off a contract extension in Jacksonville (+265), Trevor Lawrence has two new deep threats in Gabe Davis and rookie Brian Thomas. Shane Steichen is set to go nuclear in Indianapolis (+300) with a healthy Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor together for the first time. And even Tennessee (+900) isn’t boring with new head coach Brian Callahan and gun-slinging sophomore Will Levis ready to revitalize the offense.

Still, it’s impossible to bet against Houston (+100) following C.J. Stroud’s breakout rookie campaign. With Stefon Diggs added to the mix, the Texans have a terrifying amount of offensive firepower.
