Carr injured
Derek Carr injured his non-throwing hand late when trying to leap over a Giants tackler late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s victory. New Orleans’ season fell apart when the 33-year-old QB missed three games earlier this year with an oblique injury. Now they’ll be forced to turn to turn to either Jake Haener or rookie Spencer Rattler to close out the string.
The Saints are already without jack-of-all-trades Taysom Hill, who tore his ACL in Week 13. However, their running game got a boost from sophomore Kendre Miller, who ran for 32 yards and a TD against New York. With Alvin Kamara and little else on offense, the Saints will be hard pressed to win another game in 2024.

Commanders get mojo back
Before their Week 14 bye, Washington racked up 42 points in a win over Tennessee. It was much-needed offensive explosion for a Commanders team that was bottled up by the Cowboys and Eagles in back-to-back weeks.
Jayden Daniels passed for 206 yards, 3 TDs and an interception in the victory over the Titans, adding 34 yards and score on the ground. The running game was also dominant with Brian Robinson going for 103 yards and a touchdown before Chris Rodriguez Jr. mopped up in garbage time with 94 yards and a TD.
New Orleans vs Washington
New Orleans is a 7.5-point home underdog at Caesars Superdome and the over/under is set at 43.5 points. Washington has the NFL’s No. 4 scoring offense, averaging 28.9 points per game versus the Saints’ 22.3 (17th). Taking the pressure off Jayden Daniels, Kliff Kingsbury’s offense is racking up 156.9 rushing yards per game (3rd).
The Saints are allowing 134.2 rushing yards per game (25th), and have the league’s fifth-worst pass defense, permitting 246.3 passing yards per contest. While Dan Quinn’s club is vulnerable on the ground, they’re allowing only 190.7 passing yards per game (5th in NFL).
Despite similar stats, Jayden Daniels has a much higher chance of winning rookie of the year, according to @PolymarketSport pic.twitter.com/w7VDrJJy76

Best Bet
New Orleans is 3-1 under interim head coach (and admitted toilet clogger) Darren Rizzi but it’s difficult to see them competing without Derek Carr under center. We’ll take the Commanders to cover (7.5) on the road with the UNDER 43.
