The Packers and Cowboys will resume their rich playoff rivalry on Sunday. Dallas went 8-0 at home this season to capture the NFC East while Green Bay secured the NFC’s No. 7 seed with a 17-9 victory over the Bears in week 18.

Mike McCarthy faces former team
Mike McCarthy won a Super Bowl with the Packers in 2010 before being driven out of town by Aaron Rodgers after the 2018 season. McCarthy has been a lightning rod for criticism in both Green Bay and Dallas, but he just coached Dak Prescott to a career-best season.
The Cowboys franchise quarterback finished third in passing yards (4,516) with a league-leading 36 passing touchdowns to just nine interceptions. Prescott’s most frequent collaborator is Cee Dee Lamb, who exploded in 2023 for an NFL-best 135 receptions with 1,749 receiving yards (2nd) and 12 TDs (3rd).

Jordan Love delivers
Unlike his predecessors Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love brought the Packers to the playoffs in his first year as a starter. Love delivered one of his finest performances of the season in Sunday’s playoff-clinching win over the Bears, completing 27 of 32 passes for 316 yards and two TDs.
After being injured for most of the year, Aaron Jones has now rushed for more than 100 yards in three straight contests. The veteran back has averaged 123 rushing yards in three career games versus the Cowboys with six touchdowns.
Dallas vs Green Bay
Dallas is a 7.5-point home favorite in AT&T Stadium on Sunday with the over-under set at a sky-high 50.5 points. Mike McCarthy presides over the league’s top-scoring attack (29.9 points per game), however, his offense has been largely one-dimensional with the season-long disappearance of Tony Pollard.
Luckily for the Cowboys, Green Bay can’t stop the run or the pass. Joe Barry’s defense has permitted the fifth-most rushing yards (128.3), the ninth-most passing yards (206.8) and the 10th-most points per game (20.6).

Historical record
The all-time playoff series between these two iconic NFL franchises is tied 4-4, but Green Bay has claimed four-straight wins against the Cowboys. Three of those victories occurred in Dallas, including their last postseason matchup – a 34-31 Packers win in the 2016 Divisional Round.
Best Bet
It’s easy to envision Jordan Love and the Packers scoring an upset over a befuddled Mike McCarthy. But the Cowboys have been too good at home, winning a NFL-best 16 in a row at AT&T Stadium.
We like the Packers to cover (+7.5 points) in a high-scoring affair (OVER 50.5), but Dallas to win (-350) and move on to the NFC divisional round.
