- Dennis Allen (+300) of the New Orleans Saints is favored to be the first NFL head coach fired in 2024
- Nick Sirianni (+1000) is a solid longshot after his Eagles closed last season with six losses in seven games
- The 2024 NFL regular season begins with the reigning champion Chiefs hosting the Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5
While most fanbases are filled with optimism at this time of year, some team’s seasons will not go as planned. Eight NFL head coaches hit the unemployment line in 2024, including Super Bowl champions Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll.

Dennis Allen favored
Dennis Allen (+300) has a 24-46 career record as an NFL head coach and he’s perfectly mediocre (16-18) through two seasons with the Saints.
Oddsmakers have set his club’s win total at 7.5 and New Orleans has the fifth-easiest schedule in the league, according to Sharp Football Analysis. However, the offensive line is a major liability, Alvin Kamara is well past his prime, and Derek Carr is the team’s quarterback.
#Saints HC Dennis Allen on Kendre Miller:

Others on the firing line?
While Dallas continues to disappoint in the playoffs, Mike McCarthy (+600) has led the Cowboys to three-straight 12-5 campaigns. Thanks to his offensive tutelage, Dak Prescott is also coming off a career-best year. CeeDee Lamb’s holdout isn’t ideal, but don’t expect Jerry Jones to have an itchy trigger finger on McCarthy.
Robert Saleh (+700) was given a stay of execution after losing Aaron Rodgers for the entire 2023 season. But, his 18-33 record as Jets head coach certainly has him on the hot seat.
Sneaky longshot
Matt Eberflus (+1000) was halfway out the door in Chicago before winning five of seven games down the stretch. Now, he has No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams and the third-easiest schedule in the NFL. With expectations sky high in the Windy City, Eberflus (and his 10-24 career record) is in a perilous position if the Bears get off to a slow start.

Best Bet
Nick Sirianni (+1000) had no answers last year as his Eagles dropped six of their final seven games to close the year. The third-year head coach has a 34-17 record in Philadelphia, with a recent Super Bowl appearance, but he’s reportedly feuding with star QB Jalen Hurts. Management also brought in Kellen Moore to call the offense and Vic Fangio to lead the defense, leaving Sirianni in an oversight role.
Expect quick changes in Philadelphia if this season begins how the last one ended.
